The various typefaces in this image have been created under the influence of Saul bass’s typography and have all been created using the pen tool. i favour both the Kleenex type face and the the plot thickens type face this id due to the creative and imaginative styling of my Kleenex type face of which i have presented my audience with the l and the e character in the form of a face with a large red tipped noise a design choice i have created as to best explain to the target audience the function of this product. i am also proud of my type face for the plot thickens title as i believe that fact that i have fashioned my text as getting larger and larger towards the end of this title best explains the meaning of the word thickens in this text. i prefer these two over the other typefaces as i feel the other titles are not as eve catching and do not explain the meaning pf the titles well enough. As well as this i feel that i have successfully made reference towards Saul Bass’s work though the informal irregularity of the characters in my typefaces and simple colour schemes. The images in this piece are re-creations of Saul bass’s very famous piece called anatomy of a murder created with the use of the shape tool and the pen tool.
The cat in this piece has been created biased on the cat called tom from the very famous cartoon tom and Jerry . I have fashioned it in this simple way as to reflect the basic yet effective works of Saul Bass. This the cat of this piece was created using the pen tool and the shadow of this cat was achieved through the use of the opacity tool and finally the large circle was created with the use of the offset path tool.
in this piece i have presented my audience with a bottle of wine ,a wine glass and a cactus all of which have been created influenced by the work of Saul bass. i feel that i have effectively re-created Saul Basses works through the simplicity of all of these designs and through my abstract shaping of the forms of these items of which can be seen in the extreme thinness of the base of the wine bottle, the mid section of the stand of the wine glass and the dis-attached form of the cactus. both the wine bottle and glass in this piece have been created using the pen tool while the cactus was made using the shape tool using the elips, square and rectangle shapes.the characters in this piece have been inspired by looney tunes tom from tom and Jerry ,Dexter from cartoon networks Dexter’s laboratory and final the cat like character has been created influenced by Pikachu from Pokemon. i feel that both the tom cat character and the Dexter cartoon summary are both successful as i believe that i have translated the main characteristics of both of these characters well while also incorporating Saul basses styling a fact that can bee seen taking place in the composition of the my re-creation of Dexter as i have also attempted to re create the composition of Saul bass’s piece titled anatomy of a murder . however i am not so fond of the particular image as i feel that this characters identity is not clear enough, if i were to re do this piece i would have created the lightning bolt on the fore head of this piece at a grater scale.
This piece shows all of my Saul bass creations and inspired works i have done this as to show development and to show the resemblance between Saul bass’s works and my own.
This is a poster for the very well known film titled Shaun of the Dead of which has also been fashion as to resemble the styling of Saul Bass, i believe this is a fairly adequate piece due to my imaginative design that i have presented my viewer with. first showing imagery of the shirt and red tie of which the main character wears through out the entirety of this film of which i have Incorporated the idea of zombies in to by placing wooden boards down the hole length of the tie of which scratching zombie arm silhouettes appear out from. I also believe that i have well addressed the styling of Saul bass’s works through my limited and basic colour scheme and the irregular shape of the back ground of which frames this piece. however i believe that i have slightly over crowded this poster and will look to simplify this piece as to best suit Saul bass’s works of which most display little imagery while clearly explaining a concept. Here i have simplified my earlier Shaun of the dead poster ,i have done this by subtracting the picture of the coler from the shirt and tie combination while also positioning the tie much higher and incorporating this image with the title of this poster a styling choice of which i believe has benefited this piece in various ways such as effectively causing the flow of this poster to become more appealing and natural as the tie frames the words “of the” well ,this integration with the title also allows the audience to retain all of the information of this poster much faster because of this new and strategic flow. this poster is also benefited by this subtraction of the colour and new better positioning as these facts combined result in the best part of this poster becoming more prominent and allows all of my target audiences attention to be focused on my favoured section of this poster of which is the zombie tie.
