The first thing I notice about this book cover is the title of which acts as this books main focal point, this is due to the bright golden colour and clear variation in size of some of the words belonging to this designing, having some words larger than others all in while keeping the same design.  I believe that that the designer of this book has created this variation in size in order to stress the importance that belongs to the words lord and rings doing so buy illustrating the power that the word lord possesses and suggesting to the viewer that the subject of rings is present throughout this book. I am fond of the thin and somewhat sharp and decayed look of the typeface that the artist had designed, as it looks as though the text has been made out of Aztec gold, which well reflects the contents of this book. My eye is then drawn downwards along the page towards a smaller section of writing that reads ” continuing the story of the hobbit now a major motion picture”. I believe this grabs my attention again due to the very clear contrast in size technique that the artist had earlier used In the title of this book and is also because of the different typography that has been used in the beginnings of this sentence that is in a very curved, script-like font. That then changes into a very formal serif font that I think causes the words the hobbit to stand out very well. These variations in text allows the viewer to retrieve the most information in a very short amount of time. The large ring on the front of this book acts as the third focal point attracting the attention of its viewer with its very bright gold, metallic-like look that contrasts very well against the black background of this book I also notice that this image possesses a very old looking typography in which  can be seen travelling  around the edges and interior of the golden ring  that in some places has a red colour which I think had been incorporated in order to cause the writing to look as though it has been burned in to the ring. The final thing I notice about this book cover is the large the author’s name has been designed in a serif, yellow /gold colour typeface that is very attention-grabbing. I will look to re-create the amount of detail put into the title of this designs and will look to create a simple colour scheme.
GUEST_fd67d440-32fd-48af-9f96-bf2678289c5e
This book cover first attracts the attention of its viewer with its very large image of a  smiling cat, wearing a hat that has been designed to look hand drawn and possesses a very simple colour scheme of red, white and black. it is these simplistic and rough hand renders stylings that well suggest to the viewer that this book has been made to target children. this image acts as the main focal point of this book through its large size that stretches from the bottom of this book upward also while its simple colour scheme contrasts very well against its dark blue background. The second focal point belonging to this book is the large title that is informal, white and is a san serif font. This title well expresses the contents of this book doing so through its clear contrast in size that causes the rhyming words of this typeface to stand out against the other texts, glorifying these rhyming words while suggesting to the viewer that this book contains stories that rhyme.  The third image that my eye is drawn to is the large sticker like publisher logo which I believe has been very well positioned due to the fact that by placing it in this position in the book allows the brand to be very prominent to the viewer and I believe causes a lasting impression. finally, I then am allowed to read the authors name that being the very famous dr Seuss.i will look to recreate the flow of this book that well prioritises the different components of this book first telling the viewer of the main character of this book then of the title and finally of whom created this story.
19543._UY630_SR1200,630_
This book first attracts the attention of its viewer with its bold, informal title which reads where the wild things are. This typography is somewhat simple and irregular its characters vary in width which causes a noticeable difference in boldness within its characters an example of this can be seen taking place in the different styling of the e letter that re-occurs throughout this design. as well as this I suspect that the artist of this design has fashioned this typeface in a grey colour to symbolise the fact that the island in which the wild things are is an unknown place that could be considered to be a grey area.  The second focal point of this book is the large creature in which is featured in the rectangular image. the pictures in this  image have been designed in a cartoon-like style a characteristic which I believe illustrates the imaginative contents of the island in which the character in this story travels to that this book explains is a land which a young boy travels within a dream through the use of the sleeping monster like creature  in this image. The monster in this picture also explains the fact that the monsters in this book are friendly and unthreatening doing so through the resting and awaiting body language.  I have also noticed that the colour scheme in this image create a dusk-like setting that I think the artist had used to explain the time in which young children are known to go to bed.  the final focal point of this book cover tells of the contents of the book and the name of the author again using the same text in the title of this book but in a smaller text that causes me to assume that this text is not as important as the title.

519N8frZJzL._SX303_BO1,204,203,200_
The first thing I notice about this book cover is the gold band that can be seen taking place on the top of this book which reads the word legends. this standout better than the rest of the imagery due to its gold colour that contrasts very well against the black background of this book. I think that this has been done in order to let the audience know that the contents in which they are about to observe on this book cover express a fictional story. closely after I had observed this my eye was then guided to the text underneath this gold band that advertises this story as being a new york times best seller. this text captures my attention with its bright white colour that also stands out very well against the back background of this book cover. my attention is then drawn to the title of which I believe is successful as its bold futuristic style well illustrates the fact that this book tells of a story in which happened in the distant future. while this text has also been created possessing a  red colour that I think the artist has used to express the context behind the word war. I believe that the image of this book cover is very successful as it illustrates and prepares the audience for the gruesome and graphic war scenes that take place within this book. as well as this I suspect that the designer has created a grey and black background to create a somewhat depressing mood to the book cover. finally, this book cover then finally presents its viewer  with the very bold san serif text at the bottom of this book cover that has been created in white to reflect the  dominant white colour of the stormtroopers while the red blood like marking  keep the reader interested while also further explaining the fact that it is the stormtroopers who fight in this rumoured war. This typography can also bee seen used is the author’s name without the blood like pattern on its face.
download (1)
This book cover uses its title as its main focal point I believe that the simple white typeface used is successful because it well reflects the simple request in which belongs to the title while the white colour contrasts well again the blue portion of the background. a third reason why I believe that this typeface is successful is due to the fact that the typography is clear which allows the viewer to retrieve the information in the shortest amount of time. the second focal point of this design is the image of ripped paper which causes the book cover to appear to have a hole in the front of this design. my eye is then dragged downwards towards the image of the cartoon woman I think this is due to this picture possessing the most colour. after this, my attention is then guided to look at the relatively small black serif text which contrasts well against the white background. finally, I am free to read the authors name that has been written in a thin style placed at the bottom of this book in a very dark orange colour, that works well in this design as this orange colour is only featured in the name of the author.
61I0YnhtfNL._SX324_BO1,204,203,200_
This book cover fist attracts the attention of its viewer with its decorative /serif font which has been created possessing a whimsical design in which I believe well expresses the fairytale setting of the stories within this book. This font also has been created in white which causes it to stand out extremely well against this book covers simple black background. The second focal point of this book cover is the three images which can be seen taking place on the top half of this book. these images grab the attention of the audience before the other three images that can be seen taking place at the bottom half of this book. This is because the images at the top posses brighter colours. once these six illustrations that tell the viewer of the stories within this book have been acknowledged the viewer’s eye is then free to observe the large border that frames the contents of this book cover. I will look to recreate this framed look as I believe it to be athletically pleasing.

65839eda51244d91777f63b9d7522afc
This very famous book first attracts the attention of its audience with its large typeface that reads the words harry potter, that can be seen taking place in the top half of this book cover. This typeface has been created in white with subtle black markings which create a 3D effect that from my perspective causes this typography to resemble the lid of a coffin, a resemblance which I feel symbolises of the morbidity of the death of the character  Albus Dumbledore, that had taken place at the end of the previous harry potter book titled the half blood prince. this typeface also possesses a somewhat artistic style that has extended serifs in the letter h and a very long defender belonging to the letter r both taking place in the word harry. as this title continues the positioning of its character draws the eye down along the page through the use of the & symbol which after observing conducts the eye to read the word the deathly hallows. this typeface has been designed in a vastly different script like typeface that also possesses a shadowed effect . this style causes this text to look as though it has been cut out of paper which in my opinion makes this typography resemble an invitation. i suspect that the designer of this book has used two different typefaces belong to the two halves of the title to illustrate the fact that harry potter is the constant throughout these books doing so by using a very large and bold text that symbolises importance, while explaining  that it is the journey taken that changes expressing this fact through the use of a smaller, thinner text. The black and white colour scheme of this book cover is effective because it is a well-known fact that this combination of colours are worn to funerals, well suggesting to the reader that death takes place in this book. I have also noticed that the designer of this book has incorporated some iconic designs into the border of this book using the deathly hallows symbol. while also using harry potters scar in the corners and on the spine of this book cover.  I will look to recreate the use of iconic imagery in the design on my final book covers.

text
The designer of this book has designed a cover which is very text-based. the designer has made this characteristic effective buy crating the text on the front of this book very irregular possessing various different styles and sizes this causes an informal look that is interesting and original. As well as this the colour scheme that the artist has used well expresses the meaning of the title that reads ” the mayors tongue” due to the fact that the different colour reds resemble the colours belonging to a person’s tongue.  The text in this book cover guides the viewer’s eye diagonally down the cover.

51M0okPhZoL
I believe this book cover to be successful first due to the fact that the designer of this book has chosen to use a traditional gothic typeface in the majority of the text featured of this book, of which can be seen taking place in the very large title displayed on the face of this book that acts as the main focal point that has been designed in a dark red colour. This style typeface works well due to the gothic genre being intrinsically linked to the concept of vampires, while the dark red colour also symbolises the bloodshed that occurs in this book. The second focal point of this book cover is the author’s name which is significantly smaller than the title and has also been designed in white which causes it to stand out well against the grey background. The text of this typeface continue yo draw the viewers eye towards the top of this book where a different typeface has been placed in a black and red banner I think that these typefaces guide the viewers attention in this way by placing the text in this book is very close to one another while also using different but similar colour combinations as to  cause the text to look relevant to each other. I am very fond of the gothic castle that has been used as I believe the hand rendered style adds more detail and keeps the viewers interested for a longer amount of time. I also like the black and white colour of this image as I believe that by using these dull colours effectively suggests to the reader that this book has a dark and alumnus content.

623030_c610e5ecf4f84662b1d780063072013e
The designer of this book cover first intriguing the reader with its simplistic san serif typeface which has been designed in black while also having a rough texture look to it that effectively adds detail.  This same typeface has also been used in the name of the author that can be seen in white on the bottom half of this book cover both the title and the author’s name in this book poses colours that contrast well with their separate portion of the background. The image of the house that is on the left-hand side has been designed in a simple way and does not give much away about the story of this book but does however suggest to its viewer that the happening that take place are very relevant to this house. As well as this I think that the red and black colour scheme that dominates the background imagery has been incorporated to symbolise both banger and darkness which effectively implying that the genre of this book is a thriller.

51fK1Ueph7L
This book cover first attracts the attention of the audience with its script typeface that has been used to create the title that reads the way of the warrior. This typeface is successful because the scratched design and red colour resembles blood markings which well express the fact that a warrior is known to fight and to shed blood while doing so. The second focal point of this book is the image of the warrior of whom can be seen in a crouched position, holding a samurai sword while wearing a helmet that shields the warrior’s eyes I believe the artist has designed the warrior in this way to suggest that warriors are full of stealth and mystery. The third thing that captures my attention is the author’s name that can be seen taking place at the very bottom of this book cover, which stands out well against the section of the darkly coloured backgrounds due to its white colour. I will look to recreate the way that the imagery in this book cover explains the title.

48395-4429-57867-1-zorro
The artist of this design has fashioned the main focal point in the form of the white informal typeface that reads the title Zarro. This typeface has been designed having a wave-like flow to the structure of its characters which ends in an obvious flick, a characteristic of which I believe that the artist of this typography has designed as to resemble the swift and elegant motions in which Zarro waves his sword. as well as this I think that the white colour of this title has been used to symbolize the noise that the wind makes while Zarro waves his sword.  The main image of Zarro riding a horse has been designed well as this image presents this character wearing the correct attire while also using a cartoon style for this book cover which I believe brings a fun, family-friendly look to this book while the red sky in the background of this cartoon symbolises the fact that the setting of this story takes place in Spain.

red queen
This book cover is one of my favourites from the pictures that I had taken due to the way that it attracts the attention of its viewer with the image of the woman on its front cover which I assume to be the red queen. which is effective as the yellow and gold like colour of the hood that this woman is wearing creates a very clear contrast in colour with the dark red background. i like the way that the artist has designed the woman in this hooded cloke that creates a very dark shadow underneath the woman’s chin that covers her neck and chest as I feel that this style choice creates a mysterious look which suggests to me that the queen in this book is one who holds many secrets that may be revealed throughout this book . I will look to recreate the way that the artist has expressed the contents of this book through imagery.
tudor crow.jpg
I am also very fond of the main focal point of this book cover as this image of a crow, in my opinion, represents the idea of death which causes me to assume that death takes a part in this story. I also like the detail and the way that the black and white colour of the book stands out well against the gold and silver aspects of this book cover.
pain blue .jpg
I am very fond of this book cover because in my opinion even though it is simple its imagery speaks volumes. as it illustrates the context of the title very well which reads the experience of pain. the artist has done this by creating an image of a woman who has closed eyes that is resting on a chair. this image expresses the fact that pain in an inward experience through the closed eyes of the woman as this suggests the fact that the outside world cannot see a person inward experience of pain. while the resting body position, in my opinion, expresses the way that even though a person may be resting and look calm on the outside the inner feelings of a person is a mystery illustrating the way that looks can be deceiving.  This symbolism is also present on the back of this book cover which the designer has left blank again effectively suggesting to the viewer that the experience of pain in an inward affair.

FA MULAN 10 TYPE word press .jpg
out of these twelve desings, I have become inspired by the last typeface at the bottom right-hand side as I intend to re-create this style in gold and silver paint of which I believe would look very eye-catching.
fa mulan 5 .jpg
here I have experimented designing typefaces in metallic ink pens, black ink and golden paint. Having used these materials I now plan on creating my final typeface using a mix of these three materials as I felt they were different and athletically pleasing. I am fond of the typeface at the top left of these pictures that has been created in golden paint and I will look to further develop this look.

mulan drafts .jpg

mulan design.jpg
here are some of my fa Mulan book cover designs I am very fond of the design in the top left corner and will take this design further.

mulan design.jpg
this is my Chinese warrior symbol. I intend to fill these images in using gold paint and metallic pens on black card.
WARIOR DESIGN PRAC
here I have experimented with using metallic ink pens. I believe that these pens create a great amount of colour which I have made stand out well using a simple black ink pen that I have outlined my main shape with. having been pleased with this experimentation I have decided to use these materials in the front cover of my fa Mulan book.

schindlers type word press.jpg
I am very fond of the top left scribbled like typeface as I feel this one looks hand drawn, a characteristic I will look to re-create in my title. I also feel the curved and slightly elongated design is unique and interesting.

shindlers list breefs.jpg

shin 5
here I have designed five typefaces for my Schindlers list book cover.  I am pleased with these designs and I have choices to re-create the typeface that is at the very bottom of this page as I feel this one will be interesting and will add texture and detail to my design.
s 2
I am pleased with both of these different styled letters, however, feel that the S on the left-hand side is too dark and will draw attention away from my main image so I have chosen to used the letter S on the right-hand side as it is a lighter shade of black and white. I intend to keep these colours best reflects the depressing tone of this book.
shin bright
I am pleased with the outcome of my title as I believe it to be clear and possesses a unique and constant style throughout all the letters. I have designed this typeface in this curved, ball serif way as I was looking to create a handwritten style of which I feel I have achieved. I also wanted to create a typeface that had a texture that I had created using ink markings that also create a shaded look.
shinder book 1
this is a rough sketch image of what I intend the book cover of my Schindlers list book to look like. while making this design I will keep the colour scheme black and white and may add very subtle bits of red paint.
mask deve.jpg
here I have begun to design the little girl that I intend to be the main focal point in my book. These images are in pencil but I do intend to draw over it in ink and paint the dress of the little girl in red watercolour paint.
mask press .jpg
Here I have designed a picture of a little girl running in a red dress that has the star of David on the chest to reflect the fact that the Jewish people in this book were forced to wear the star of David and were de-humanised and thought to be similar to rats, a fact that I have expressed through the use of this rat-like mask that also resembles a gass mask to explain the ways that some of these Jewish people were gassed to death. I have drawn her running with her arms behind her as to suggest the fact that these people become free at the end of this book.
SHIND LAY OUT PRESS .jpg
This is an image of my final front book cover design. I have added the colour red to this piece and a frame. I am pleased with design and will use it in the final book cover.
SHIN .jpg
This is an image of my final design for my front cover. I am pleased with this outcome as I feel I have created a very nice about of contrast, the imagery is clear and I believe the texture I have added to the border effectively adds more.
schindlers list book cover layout word press.jpg
I first began this book cover by hand drawing all the imagery desplayed in pencil. After I had done this I then re-traced the outlines of my design in ink pen. I have included imagery of a young girl running like a plain while wearing a rat like a mask,a blood red star of David on her chest and blood spray on her dress ,as to resemble the little girl that is seen wearing the red dress in shindlers list and acts as a symbol of hope and innocence. I chose to dress her wearing a rat like mask as to reflect the ways in which Nazi Germany dehumanised Jewish people by referring to them as rats. while painting the star of David in this blood red colour to show the way that Jewish people were forced to wear this symbol, which Hitler had made into a symbol of disgrace. A Swell as this I have also chosen to use a simple colour scheme of black and white that shows subtle hints or red as I felt these colours set a depressing tone to my book .
You may also notice the Nazi symbol that I had drawn to look as tho it is in a wax seal that is melting while also resembling blood. I hade choices to place this image on the back cover of my book to reflect the way that this symbol was one to be feared while also suggesting to my audience that this symbol was thought to be a formal one l like the queen of Englands wax stamps. As well as this, I have also created my title in this style because I was attempting to create a typeface that looked as tho it was hand rendered and resembled writing that might take place in the makings or a formal letter.
I have used the image of the young girl as my main focal point, that I have designed in this particular way to suggest to my viewer that the topic of this young girl and the Jewish people play an important role throughout this book while also expressing the manner in which these people are treated. I have successfully drawn the eye of my viewer to this image first, through my clear contrast in colour and dark shading that can be seen taking place in the girl’s hair. I then draw my viewers eye up the page to my title that reads Schindlers list.  If you will also acknowledge the border that I have incorporated that has been included to create a stronger amount of contrast and to draw more attention towards the imagery placed in the centre of my front cover.  The spine of my book cover has been created using the same typeface used for my title on my front cover that I have changed the colour to black, in hopes that this would cause it to stand out well. I have framed this type within two red banners on either side of the book title that I have placed the author’s name in the highest band and the publishing brand within the lower one. I have incorporated these red rectangles as I felt that these well framed the title of the book cover and drew more attention to the important aspects of the spine, allowing my audience to grasp the most information within the shortest amount of time.  The back cover of my book has been designed having the blurb of  this book above the imagery  which I have done as to stress the importance of the contents of this text  that acts as the back covers main focal point over the image of the Nazi stamp due to the texts monotoned black colour that stands out better than the images black and red colouring. The bar code has been placed on the bottom right-hand side of my back cover as I felt that this was a practical area to place it while also ensuring that it did not distract my viewer away from the important imagery.

shindler book mock
I am pleased with this outcome as I feel that I have well explained the contents of this book to my viewer while creating an original look. however, if I were to do this again I would have made my title stand out better and incorporated more imagery into my white space.

FA MULAN FIRST DRAFS J PEG WHITE.jpg

FA MULAN SMUDGE .jpg

FA MULAN BOOK COVER LAY OUT press name 1 .jpg
I began this book cover buy first hand drawing the imagery that I have used in this cover doing so by first drawing the images out pencil and then going over the imagery in ink which after I then filled in the images using metallic ink pens. after I had completed these images I then scanned them in and individually edited them on photoshop. I have designed the title of this book cover in a calligraphy of which I had designed to look as though its characters have been made from butterfly wings. as to make reference towards the drastic change that Mulan puts herself through to look like a male soldier that could be considered as a temporary act of metamorphosis.  while adding the flowers to suggest to the audience that the contents of this book are about a female. I have also incorporated the use of Chinese symboled to reflect Mulan’s  Chinese heritage and to explain the settings of this story, these symbols put together mean warrior well explaining the identity of Fa Mulan. for the front cover of this book, I have made my title the main focal point because I felt that this characteristic added context to all other imagery viewed after the title allowing the viewer to make connections between the book and the imagery better. I have also placed many flowers unevenly around the edges of my book focusing my attention mainly on the corners. i have done this as I felt that these flowers well framed my decorative title and added a lot more detail to my overall design while also causing the book cover to appear to be more vibrant in colour  and also felt that the way these flowers cause the viewers eye to travel around the edges of the book was a unique effect. amungst these flower at the bottom of my page I have placed the name of my author ,framing the name  and sing the large amount of space between the title and the  name of the author to allow these two texts to be viewed individually  if you will now draw your attention to the spine of my book where I have used the same typeface for my title doing so as I felt that the spine of this book required detail and colour and I have also incorporated two flowers and the Chinese symbols in this  section of my book cover which I have distributed evenly on either side of my title to  well frame this title to imply the importance of this title. on this spine, I have also chosen to place the book publisher mark in colour on the very bottom of the spine as I believe this positioning allowed this stamp to stand out. finally, I have created my back book cover having the blurb placed on the top section of this page as I believed that this would suggest to the viewer that this information is important. I have also attempted to exaggerate this fact by placing a flower above this text as I believed that this flower would catch the attention of my viewer that then conducted the eye downward to the blurb. the final piece of imagery on the back of this blurb is the Chinese symbols that I had made earlier on which I had positioned here as i felt that this image added aesthetics to my back cover.

fa mulan
I am pleased with my final book cover as I believe it to be detailed and athletically pleasing while also being very original. however if I were to re-create this design i would have photographed my pictures as I believe that this would have allowed the metallic pens to  take full effect allowing my book cover to appear to have a subtle shine to it and this would have expressed the idea that even tho Mulan is a female that she was also very strong .

CLAREDON
here I have presented my viewer with an image of a large letter x  with the definition and history of the typeface Claredon written underneath it. I began this by first researching the information in needed of this font after which I then chose the letter x to display on the front of this piece of paper. later I cut out the letter x using a scalpel knife which revealed the images of the boats and ankers that I then glued to the back of the first piece of paper.

I have repeated the same method for this  piece that I had earlier used for  my Claredon piece

CREATE
I have chosen the lobster typeface to re-create and cut out of card. I have chosen this particular typeface as I believe it to be pleasing to the eye and thought that cutting its curved form from card would be a somewhat challenging task.

I began this prosses by first redrawing to scale the typed out typeface that reads the word create after which I then cut out the letters using a scalpel knife. once this was done I then glued a piece of blue paper that I had earlier designed a green and orange cross on to the back of the yellow card with the cutout letters resulting in my final outcome.

This piece was made from plasticine and lego I have chosen these materials as I believe they expressed the word Play well as these items are intrinsically linked to the idea of being creative and having fun. however, I do think that the letters themselves even though bright in colour and fun are to thin. therefor I will look to design future typefaces  much thicker.

This typography was made using mass amounts of clay and small amounts of lego.  this typeface was designed inspired by the vegan typeface I had earlier analysed. this fact can be seen taking place in the very curved and somewhat extravagant stylings of the letters.  I am pleased with this outcome as I feel that it is creative, bright and fun.  however, if I were to re-create this design I would have made the letters bigger as I feel that this would allow the mixed colours of the clay to stand out better.

this typeface has been created using glitter glue and liquorice. I am pleased with this outcome however if I were to do this image again I would use thicker amounts of wet glitter glue and a better camera.

coffee and sugar

This typeface that spells the word sugar was made from coffee granules which I intended to combine with caster sugar. I was going to place the sweetener within the line that can be seen travelling through the letters of this typeface. I did not do this after finding that the sweetener I used caused the coffee to melt, turning in to a black liquid.  having discovered this I instead mixed some coffee granules with very small amounts of sweetener which turned the coffee into a darker shade of brown which I used to create this burnt like effect. I then finished off this design with almond nuts that I placed in the top corners of this image.

I believe that I have achieved this likeness by using the same colours as the sour patch sweets and through using excessive amounts of the glitter glue while also incorporating the eyes I have stuck on the sour patch kids sweets.

there are my individual designs for my glitter glue alphabet. I have chosen to design these letters at an angle with no serifs.

I am pleased with my final outcomes as I believe that my designs are fun and original. as well as this I feel that the slight angle that I have set these letters at gives my typeface character.  I have chosen to place a sour patch kid sweet on every character of my capital letters as I believed that this caused the letters to appear to be made out of melted sour patch kids. I have chosen to only incorporate sour patch kids into my capital letter designs and not my lowercase letters as I felt that by doing this I effectively exaggerated the importance of these capital letters while also causing them to look fun and creative.

here I have presented my audience with my lowercase typeface that I had created in glitter glue and plastic eyes. I am pleased with these outcomes as I believe that they are neat and clear.

This is the final outcome of my glitter glue and sour patch typeface. I am pleased with this as I believe my typography is clear, vibrant in colour and creativity.
SUGAR WITH BELTS
here I have furthered the final outcome of my sentence that reads sugar rush. I have done this by incorporating more sweets to better express the meaning behind the sentence sugar rush. I have not included the sour patch kids heads in my capital letters as I felt that incorporating these into this design would look too excessive and overpower the overall design.
clay
Here I had begun designing my curved alphabet in moulding clay. while doing this I felt that these designs were too childlike and simple.  having been displeased with these outcomes then decided to use a different material for this task.

I intend to fashion my final typeface for my alphabet inspired buy this serif font called a backpack. I have chosen this font as I find it to be very elegant and interesting I will look to re-create its curved styling.

Here I have created a curved serif font in which I have designed using metallic beads and glitter crystals I put these in to practice buy first placing the metallic beads around the outline I had drawn earlier which I then filled in the centre with the glitter crystals. I repeated this method throughout this font. I am pleased with this final outcome as I believe that the final designs are clear, colourful and intriguing.

Design report

I started this assignment by first researching many different typefaces looking at decorative fonts, script fonts, serif fonts and san serif fonts. After I had become familiar with these different types of letterforms, I began to experiment with creating some typefaces in different materials some of which included the use of a combination of plasticine and Lego ,that after using I was first very fond with as I felt that the letters I had made were bright in colour and play full but after further research in to typefaces that were created using these materials found that my designs were in fact to thin, and nowhere near technical. Having found this I then decided to experiment with food materials using liquorice all sorts that I started to use to create a letter S which had proven that the cubed and chunky form of these sweets did not work well for creating a curved look and caused the letter to look bulky and simple.

Therefore I moved into a granule based material using coffee and sweetener which did prove to be useful for creating more complex’s letter forms but was unfortunately unsuccessful as the sweetener I was using unpredictably reacted with the coffee causing it to melt.

After many attempts with different materials, I discovered that the combination of glitter glue and sour patch kid sweets worked rather well as the liquid base of this glue was easy to form any style typeface with. while also resembling the material of the sour patch kid sweets, that added character and fun to my overall designs.

Once I had come to this conclusion, I then searched for an appropriate typeface that allowed me to choose the AF PESSI font that I was very fond of due to its slight leaning style that I thought was also striking, bold and clear. After I had chosen this type face I then began to draw my letters re-creating its bold, square edged form that I later filled in with the glitter glue that I painted on to the insula sketches using a paintbrush. once I had filed in the letter designs I strategically placed novelty eyes on the letters. I finished off the capital letters of this alphabet with the heads of sour patch kids that I had earlier stuck novelty eyes on to as I felt that this exaggerated the importance of my capital letters. I am pleased with my glitter glue and sour patch kid alphabet as I feel that my letters are vibrant in colour, fined and could feature on an American candy product.

I began my second typeface with the intention to create my letters out of plasticine, first researching various script like serif fonts. While doing this I came across a font that was called backpack which had curved edges and series of which I believed looked elegant while also being bold a style combination in which I believed to be unique and intriguing having found this I decided that I was going to design my typeface inspired by this font.

I did this by mimicking and exaggerating its curved stylings and bold form of which I roughly designed in pencil first. Once I was pleased with my individual designs, I began to create these letters in plasticine of which I had previously experimented with in earlier design but after using this marital over a few of my letters I began to feel that this material cheapened the design and caused the typeface to look childlike and dull. having realised this I then began to search for a new material which led me to stumbled across metallic beads and glitter crystals. I put these new materials into practice buy first placing the metallic beads around the outline that I had done earlier which I then filed the interior of the shape in with glitter crystals. Once this was finished, I realised that this combination of materials was practical for this task as they were easy to form into the curved shapes of my letters and added a significant amount of detail to the final designs while glitter crystals also added texture and colour to this alphabet.

I am pleased with this final outcome as I feel that my letterforms are clear and somewhat professional looking and believe my overall alphabet to look extravagant. However, if I were to do this alphabet again, I would first have experimented further with the beads and glitter, using them in different combinations such as only using golden beads for some letters, combine the different colours of glitter together, while also attempting to cause a more professional look. as well as this I would have the better colour edited the design ensuring that all the letterforms sharing the same colour looked identical in colour of which would have been made easier using a different camera.

skull in colour word press
I began the making of this Mexican skull by first tracing around this image on tracing paper with precision after which I then placed the tracing paper into a blank piece of paper that allowed me to scan it in correctly as a ttf . once I had scanned this image in I then saved it into a folder. after this, I then placed my image in illustrator and placed it in o position . then with my mouse, I selected object which revealed the image trace option that allowed me to select the make and expand tool. after this was done I left clicked the shape builder tool and then used the live paint bucket to fill my image with colour

This image was created using the same method used in the first Mexican skull that I traced. But in this design, I have created my own version.

monster mood board
Here I have researched various different monsters. I have become inspired by the old black and white cartoons which have very simple features characters can be seen taking place in the bottom left-hand corner. I admire the simplicity of these designs and will look to re-create these characteristics in my own monster designs.

word colour scheme
I have chosen this colour scheme as I believe that it is very bright, creates a good amount of contrast and appropriate for all genders.

pattern designs
These designs have been created inspired by the children’s nursery rhyme rain go away. I have done this by ensuring to include imagery of rain clouds raindrops and also incorporated some typography that reads the words within this rhyme.

rain rain go away pattern blue closer
To make this pattern I first scanned in my original designs and then converted them into a traced image doing so by using the image trace function that I found on the windows menu that I set to colour mode and high fidelity photo after which I then selected expand that officially turned my design into a traced image that then allowed me to fill in the designs with colour using the swatches and the life paint tools. Once I had done this I then began to create a pattern doing so by duplicating my individual images and strategically placed them into this pattern. I finished this design by adding a grey background and placing my pattern on to blue strips.resulting in this finish look.

final kids pattern 2
This pattern was accomplished first using the same method that I put in to practice in my first pattern. however, I have incorporated the use of the brush tool into this design that I set o charcoal and used to make the black marking in the red cloud and the red marking that appears behind the blue raindrops.

CLUDS RED AND BLACK
I have also completed this pattern using the same method I have used in both of my earlier patterns. I believe this pattern to be successful as it is both unisex and visually appealing while making this I ensured not to incorporate the colour pink due to my research revealing that this particular colour is not often used in unisex clothes. I believe my design to be expressive and unique and feel that my overall design would attract the attention of a child with a somewhat moody personality who may have alternative parents.

star pattern
I have accomplished these pattern filled star shapes by taking my already made pattern designs and dragging them into the swatches pallet that I used to fill in three-star shapes I had made earlier.

Design analysis

This is an image of my final design in this image I have presented my audience with a three-headed black and white monster of which I have deigned possessing characteristics taken from old classic Disney cartoons. These characteristics can be seen taking place in the black and white stylings of this monsters and the simple eyes and large white gloves with two black dots on the back of the hand. I have done this to attract the attention of my target audience that being the parents of nine to ten-year-olds as I hoped that this would remind them of the cartoons they once watched as a child while also appealing to the children through its cute characteristics. Another way I have appealed to the children is through the use of the very long somewhat wiggly arms that I have designed to  look as though they would tickle you if you got to close  while also incorporating many facial expressions in the three heads of my design showing the first dragon-like head to look happy and sweet while the second character looks somewhat goofy as I have drawn this face having crossed eyes and odd teeth. The last face of this character I have drawn to look cute and cat-like. I have drawn these displaying monster like features that can be seen in the pointed teeth, horns scales and its mythical form that I have designed to look slightly unnerving through its very long and thin body, multiple heads and many hands. I have incorporated these three heads into my design in order to illustrate the many characteristics that children hold expressing them as being sweet silly, fun and cute and beastly. In my opinion, I feel I have successfully created a monster that is suitable for all genders while still looking cute and full of character.

After I was pleased with my design, I then scanned it in and began to edit it on photoshop doing so by removing its white background and refining the overall design using the paintbrush tool. Once this was done, I started to place my monster on to my mockup t-shirt while doing this I decided to add a drop shadow in order to cause my monster to look slightly more three D. I also changed the colour of the top to a very light blue colour and set the background to a light red. I had chosen these

penportrait
In this picture, you will see three different designs in which I have come up with to express the quote “The pen is mightier than the sword”. in my first design I have presented the letters in this quote all sharing a curled style. I have done this due to the fact that this style of calligraphy is very commonly done in ink and is usually put in to practice while using very old fashioned fountain pens. and due to the fact that this particular quote is exulting the idea of pens I felt this design best reflected the fact that pens write in ink. I have also attempted to express the meaning of the word mightly doing so by designing it in this curved way. as I believe that this style reflected the bow of a flexing arm. an idea of which is an action that shows strength. as well as this in this design, I have designed the letter is in the word sword with an elongated pointed bottom as to reflect the tip of a blade. In my second design, I have started by creating the words the and pen in this quote in a scratched like fashion in order to cause an ink scratched effect. while again re-creating the pointed effect in the letter s of the word sword that I had designed in my first thumbnail. in this second design, I have also experimented with a somewhat simple typeface for the word mightier with a pointed m. In my final thumbnail, I have designed the first word in this quote in a curled like style of which shows the top line of the T looping into the letter H a style choice of which I felt exaggerated the curled style that I have used throughout the letters of the quote. in this final design, I have created the letter M in the word mightier having very large arches with very round and protruding serifs because i felt that this design caused this particular word to stand out from the text better.
three
These designs all express my chosen quote that reads “Three things cannot be long hidden. the sun, the moon and the truth. out of all of these designs I have chosen to further develop my first design. I have chosen to do this as I feel that this design hold the most intriguing composition as the positioning of the words.  I also believe that my typography in this design well expresses the meanings behind the individual words.

These are some of my designs that I have created in order to express my chosen quote ” the pen is mightier than the sword”. I began with the bottom design that reads the word pen . in this drawing I have filed in the design with black ink and attempted to create a spilled ink effect that I have slightly filled in with red ink.  The letters above this design are my designs to express the word mightier. I have created these letters in a tick and bold way as to reflect the strong idea of the word mightier. In the larger version of the word  pen

SLICED
To create this split look I first began by writing out the word sliced after which I then drew a box that I slightly tilted to one side and placed over my word. one this was done I then selected my word and used the crate outlines function  having done this I then selected both the word I had made and the rectangle that I then used the crate shape tool to segregate the top section of my letters . after this i then changed the colour of my now segregated letters while also changing there positioning to cause this lightly dispatched look.

three things FINISHED
I am pleased with this outcome I believe that I have created a good amount of contrast which has resulted in this piece being very eye-catching and appealing look however I don’t feel that these colours well explain the meaning behind this quote and as a result, I will look to further develop this piece and set out to achieve a more meaning full design.
three things FINISHED black and RED orange blue edite
In this design, I have further developed the overall loom by using colour to express the meaning behind the individual words of this quote . in this design I have also used triangular shaps to better direct the attention of my audience townwards across the page. I have also used punctuation marks to add stress to words.

Evaluation
This is an image of my final design in this piece I have presented my audience with the quote that reads “Three things cannot be long hidden. the sun, the moon  and the truth.” I believe my design to be successful this is due to the fact that I feel that I have designed the individual words with this text in ways that well explain the meanings behind them. this can be seen in the way that I have created the first word of this quote. That being the word three possessing a letter E at the end of this word that looks like a backwards number three. I have also attempted to express the meaning behind the word cannot. I have done this by first finding a font of which was rather large that possessed a significant amount of detail  as I felt that these characteristics would  cause this word to be more eye-catching  to add to this I also made the conscious decision to use capital letters for this word  as I believed this would cause my audience to better interpret this word as being an important one while also influencing them to read this word in a more stern way. I have chosen to create this text in red because this colour is one that is commonly seen taking place in warning signs and I felt that this colour well expressed the negative meaning behind the word cannot. as well as this I have placed two full stops at either end of this word to influence the reader to take a brief pause while thinking about the meaning behind this word. The word “Be” of this design has been placed within this triangular shape as I thought that this would cause this somewhat unimportant word to draw more attention. A technique I have again used in the makings of the words “and the.” Beneath this is the word long. I have expressed this word through using a typeface that has been designed extending the first and last characters within a word.
I have placed the majority of the word hidden behind the extension I have made occurring in the middle line of the letter H in order to obstruct the view of some of the character using the letter H, well expressing the meaning behind this word while also exaggerating the importance of the first letter. I had chosen this typeface for this word as I felt that the detailing resembled the markings in which a person may use to draw a shadow
The words the sun has been designed with the word the extending upwards both taking up a larger space on the page and expressing the high positioning of the sun. the characters of this word are all-in lower-case letters and in a grey colour, as this does not take attention away from the word sun in which I have caught the attention of my audience with using capital letters, a yellow colour explains the colour of the sun.
I have mirrored this technique in the words “The moon.” While using a blue colour for the word moon to again reflect its well-known colour.
Finally I expressed the word truth by again using capital letters to exaggerate the importance and to influence the viewer to read this word in a stern manner while designing this word changing from black to red as I felt the dark black that changed to the lighter colour of red well reflected the ways in which the truth can enlighten its subject. Exclamation marks have also been placed on either side of this word to exaggerate the importance and the volume in which this word is read.
the pen re aranged
I am pleased with my final outcome as I feel that I believe that I have well express the meaning of my quote that reads the pen is mightier than the sword. doing so by first choosing a typeface that resembles ink that I have used in the word “The” that occurs twice in this quote. I have done this to explain the ink cartage within a pen.  While also displaying the word is in an ink marking to further express this fact. I have also chosen a slender somewhat sharp looking typeface to display the word pen as I felt that the sharp point that can be seen extending from the letter p in this word resembled the point of a pen and also thought that this design caused the word pen to look more intimidating.  If you will acknowledge the way in which I have designed both I’s in the word mightier resembling pillars of which appear to be forming a structure. I have done this in order to reflect the strong and stable meaning behind the word mightier. Underneath this text is the word the of which can be seen displaying a thin, curved and slightly pointed typeface I have chosen this design as I felt that this type attracted more attention to this word while also contributing to the sharp and intimidating meaning behind this quote. The final word of this quote is the sword of which I had taken the same sharp text that I had previously used in the word than and had edited the letter s to resemble the shape of a sword. A characteristic that I feel thoraly explains the meaning of the word sword  I have also used a simple and clear colour scheme in hopes that this would cause this quote to be interpreted as a blunt statement rather than an opinion.

LEARN edited
I have designed the first word of this quote that reads learn to rest not to quit in this colourful and informal way as I felt that this design looked fun and almost childlike a characteristic of which I believe we’ll explain the idea of learning and the childlike way of the mind before it has been educated. To add to this fun style I have chosen a typeface that has a good amount of detail. As well as this the word rest has been designed in this hand renders way as to look artistic. I have expressed this word by editing the letter T of this word looking as though it is resting on the letter s.i have used this bright blue colour as I felt this colour contrasted well with my colour scheme.  I have chosen to design the word not in this red colour to reflect the negative meaning behind this word while also using capital letters to cause this word to be red in a very serious manner. I have selected an elongated text as I felt that this style made good use of the space given. The final word of my quote that reads quit has been designed using capital letters in hopes that this would suggest the importance of this word to my reader. I have also used a very detailed typeface as I felt that this caused this word to be more visually interesting. I have tried to express the meaning of this word through the cross like t as I believed that this image well suggests the idea of crossing something out while incorporating the colour red to further explain the negativity of this action. to finish this word of I have placed it between quotation marks to cause the reader to exaggerate the way in with they say this particular word.

This is my final hand-drawn design. I believe that I have included many different typefaces and have used the space in my given saw template well.
black saw final thing
This is my final design in this image I have presented my audience with an image of a saw with chalk like letters displayed on its face. I had created this design by first taking my scanned in hand has drawn designs and selecting them individually using the polygon lasso tool  of which i then selected using a right click on my mouse that revealed the layer via copy that allowed me to make a copy of my individual typefaces that I then placed on to a separate page, double clicked the layer that allowed me to select the colour overlay option that I used to change the black ink colour of the typefaces to a chalk-like white colour. I am pleased with my final design.however if I were to do this again I would have made the typefaces larger and more refined.

Designing expressive words

abc patterns
These patterns were created using various letters from the alphabet that I placed on to my page and duplicated after which I then formed the duplicates into these interesting patterns
missing 5 designs
These designs have been created to express the word missing. I have chosen to re-create the first design in the top left-hand corner as i feel that this design is the most effective as even though the letters i and s in this design are almost not visible the word is still readable.
swing 5 designs
Here are my five different designs that I had created to express the word swing. I have chosen to re-create the design in which I have circled as I believe that this design is very creative and explains the meaning of the word swing well due to the way I have designed the letter w in this word to appear to be hanging from the letter s as a swing hangs from its frame.

tank designs 5
Here are my five designs of the word tank that will become one of my final expressive words. I have chosen the last design in the top right-hand corner of this page as I feel this design best reflects the shape of a tank while not affecting the shape of the typeface to drastically.
window designs
These design all express the word window. from these five designs, I have chosen to re-create the top middle design as I believe that this drawing best explains the form and function of the window as I have drawn the individual letters to form a square that frames the o in this word.

chimeney designs

These five designs all express the meaning of the word chimney, I have chosen to re-create the design that can be seen taking place in the top right -hand corner as I feel this design reflects the shape and settings that a chimney possesses showing the tall form and I have designed the c in this image to look as tho it is a moon while the other texts acts as rooftop like images.

5 letter

These five words are my final designs. I believe these final outcomes to be very successful and professional looking.  These images were made using the text tool, the  Direct tool and the curvature tool.

chimney
I believe that this design is successful as I feel that I have well explained the meaning of the word chimney doing so buy designing the h of this word in this elongated and bold way, best resembling the shape of a chimney. while also positioning the c of this word at the top right side of the h  causing it to resemble the shape and positioning of a moon.As the other letters in my design have been placed very closely together  resemble the positioning and size of a roof of a building
missig
In this design, I have presented my audience with an image of the word missing of which possesses two very light letters that are the letter i and s  of which I have designed in this way as to best express the meaning of the word missing as these letters are so subtle they are almost not visible.
tank
I feel that this expressive design is successful as I believe that my design well explains the meaning of the word tank through my overextension of the top extending section of the letter k that I have done in order to resemble the very long tube-like gun that belongs to a tank. while also extending the top right extension of the letter t in hopes that this would act as an outline of the top of a tank
window
I feel that this design is very effective and explains my chosen word well as I have created the shape of a window through the positioning of my individual letters that also frame the letter o. I have done this in order to resemble the square shape of a window.
swing
In this design, I have presented my viewer with the word swing designed having the w of this word extending from out of the letter s in order to resemble the way a swing hangs. a style choice I have also re-created in the positionings and form of the letter g of which I have placed hanging from the letter n.

This is an image of a re-creation of one of my decorative designs that express the word tank. I have created this image using the measuring tool on illustrator that I used to map out the correct positioning allowing me to draw this expressive type to scale.

Digital artist critique

Who is Eduardo Recife?

Eduardo Recife is a brazilin typographer and illustrator who is known for his unique multi-medium collages of which he creates using a combination of vintage images, sections from magazines, small ink markings, old stains and symbols. He is well recognized for his 35 typefaces.

This well-known artist has worked for various company’s including the new york times, YouTube, Volkswagen, HBO and many more and has had his works published in over 70 books. Eduardo has also won many prizes such as the Cannes lion Gold in 2011, the American International of 2009 and the young illustrations reward in 2014 to add to his many achievements Eduardo was also invited to be a member in a group of artists that create special works for the world cup in 2014. He was also one brazilin who created a signed bottle for the alcoholic drink absolute vodka

Despite his impressive and very experienced background as a graphic commercial artist Eduardo had always been very passionate about the fine arts of which he puts in to practice with intricacy and symbolism that communicates his views of man’s wants and wishes and tells his viewers of his questions and dreams. His works are described as being passionate and extremely detailed of which seem to actively demand the attention of the public in hopes to draw out their personal dreams, hopes and questions.

only good thoughts
Only Good Thoughts.
I believe that Eduardo has given this piece the title Only good thoughts as to imply to his audience that the individual components of this image have been included as to explain Eduardo Recife’s want to retrain his mind to think positively. He has effectively done this by presenting his audience with an image of a young boy whose head he has painted slightly facing downwards with closed eyes, while blue dots appear to be excepted from the child’s eyelids of whom is surrounded by white doves one of which he is holding in his right arm while stroking it with his left. This image best explains his topic due to the fact that by painting the head of this young boy as this angle implies that this boy is feeling negative emotions an interpretation which is supported by the blue dots that seem to be emanating from his eyes as these markings highly resemble tears. Best translating the idea of negativity, while the white doves fly freely around him suggest the idea of hope, love, freedom and purity of which is reflected in their white colour.
Eduardo has fashioned his main focal point in the form of the young boy in which he has done buy positioning him within the very centre of this piece a composition choice that supports the idea of this particular image being the centre of attention. He has also made this possible by catching the eye of his viewer through his clear contrast in colour between the boy’s dark navy-blue coat and the pale purple background and the white doves that frame the picture of the young boy. I believe that Eduardo has fashioned the background in this light purple shade as to represent the past pain this young boy had experienced while being in a negative mindset an interpretation, I have due to this shade of purple resembling the purple, red like colour that belongs to a bruise an injury that reveals its self a short amount of time after an incident. I also feel that the old traditional images combined with his hand-painted purple-faded background creates a vintage style. This image causes me to recall my experience of suffering bad mental states while wanting to create a new positive frame of mind and kindles hope in me that this can be made possible while in this position this image also reminds me that others experience this emotional and mental conflict. bringing me to the conclusion that the function of this image is to express the shared states of mind that we as humans have all experienced. Another characteristic that I have found meaning in is the small butterfly that Eduardo has perched on the shoulder of this child as I believe that this butterfly has been placed in this position to make reference and to contradict the concept of having a devil on your shoulder replacing it with a butterfly to translate the idea of a positive character or entity on a person’s shoulder of which tells only of good things.
love-2861@2x
In this piece, Eduardo Recife effectively makes his subject matter extremely clear through the use of his title that he has created in this large black lettering that spells the word love. Eduard also translates his subject matter through his mass involvement of the colour red a colour that can represent many things including the idea of romance. which he has displayed in scribble like  markings and small images of hearts across his page as well as this Eduardo has presented his audience with imagery that shows a young male presenting a female with a red rose while the female appears to be offering a bird that can be seen within her tightly closed hand a scene which symbolises love due to the fact that roses are intrinsically linked to the idea of romance and the way that birds can represent hope and freedom effectively explains to the viewer that the boy is expressing feelings of love while the female is hopeful about this transaction of kind gestures.
Eduardo’s use of vintage imagery to act as his main focal point a style choice of which makes strong reference to the traditional forms of art that he actively corpus though his scribble like ink marking’s that he defaces these images with effectively combining modern art mediums with the old traditions of art forms.

rain dow.jpg
I believe that this college is successful because of the way that the various bright colours contrast against each other and the dark background of this image. As well as this the contrast in style that the individual images have complement each other well and cause the separate aspects of the images to stand out better as opposed to if the imagery that makes up this collage were to all be within the same media. An example of this can be seen taking place in the way that the creases like details belonging to the human hands are more prominent and the way that the flat space like background image frames this realistic and elegant looking human part of the collage and the flowers that appear to be growing from out of the head.
The artist of this collage has used the image of the woman’s lower face and hands as his main focal point a characteristic I believe exists due to the fact that it is this image that shows the brightest shades of colour and is also not as busy as the other imagery within this collage.
I believe that the artist of this collage is trying to express the concept of promised personal growth. I have come to this conclusion because I interpret the design of the flowers and foliage growing from out of this head as an attempt of symbolising positive development of the persons internal and external self. I also interpret the rainbow like streaks that can be seen taking place in the centre line of this collage as a symbol of promise this is due to the fact that the Christian bible teaches that an image of a rainbow can represent a promise.
The composition of this collage effectively draws the eye upwards.  first attracting the viewer’s attention at the bottom section of this poster through the use of the pale face after this the viewer’s attention is then caught through the use of colour that takes place within the flowers and foliage.  finally the audiences attention is forced upwards as they observe the inner rainbow filled with colour.
lill boy
This piece was created at the hands of Eduardo Recife, he gave this collage the title the battle within. He has presented his audience with imagery of a young child wearing a calm expression while holding an alcoholic bottle that has been set alight with the words hung within a banner that reads don’t give up. I believe that the subject matter that Eduardo is trying to express is the idea that people can fight many destressing internal battles while presenting them selfs in a calm and collect manner. A state of being that can be considered as a very controversial experience and I believe that this status is reflected in the clear controversy that Eduardo has created between the content face of this child and the weapon in his hands displaying emotions of both serenity and violence. It is because of this that I believe that Eduardo has created the face of this child as the main focal point as to stress the calmness of the outer form of the child and the controversy that the weapon creates.
Another aspect that grabs my attention is the contrast that the light blue background had against the old army green colour that the child in this collage is wearing. a  second contract in colour that is rather noticeable is the dark redness of the old looking banner against the modern white text that reads the title don’t give up. The modern look of this text stands out well as the majority of the imagery in this collage have a rather vintage look.
Eduardo has created a very natural flow to this image using the rule of thirds first attracting the attention of his audience with the face of the child and then effectively guiding the viewer’s eye through the use of the pale brown scarf as this windswept effect directs the eye to the left and then downwards towards the bottle. Once this image has been observed Eduardo draws the attention of his audience to the banner though its bright red colour. Effectively drawing the viewers eye downwards across the page.
wind off feet
This is another piece created by Eduardo Recife  That he has titled mind is like the wind. In this image, he has presented his audience with a vintage image of a woman looking as though she is falling to the floor at a left angle while a varied styled text reads mind is like the wind. Flowers and scribble like markings can also be seen taking place randomly across this page.
I believe that Eduardo is trying to translate the idea that the woman’s mind in this mage is extremely unpredictable in its direction of thought and the unobtainable force of it is so great that it catches her off Gard and often trips her up in her conclusions. A impression I have come to due to the fact that the title reads mind is like the wind a characteristic of which causes its viewer to relate the imagery in this collage to this concept and I interpret the random placing of the flowers and scribble like markings in this image as symbolising the unpredictable ways of the woman’s mind and due to her falling over causes me to assume that she cannot stand them. The composition of this collage draws the attention of the viewer to its main focal point of which is the falling woman a characteristic that I believe Eduardo has done to intentionally add context to the rest of the imagery labelling it as the reason that the woman in this image has been knocked off her feet. After the viewer has studied the image of the woman their attention in then guided to the title of this collage explaining the source of the problem. Then the viewer’s eye is allowed to almost freely scan the overall design in order to view the randomly scattered ink masking and flowers.
greed.jpg
this piece titled greed was created by Eduardo Recife. I believe that Eduardo has substituted the image of the woman’s face with a picture of intestines as to suggest  that the woman in this collages thoughts only revolve around feeding her never-ending hunger for material things and money I also believe that Eduardo has reflected this want in the way that he has dressed the woman’s arms in this somewhat high quality pink and purple fabric and has fashioned the hair of the woman in this particular fancy style while also showing golden coins falling from her conclusive hand while a separate hand reaches for the spare coins was done to add context to the form of greed that belongs to this woman . As well as this I suspect that Eduardo has placed the hand of this woman in this conclusive way as to symbolise the urgency of the wanting thoughts that this woman has. Eduardo has caused an irregular flow as the first draws the viewers attention to his main focal point of which is the woman’s head. he then guides the eye downwards to the pink and purple fabric and after the viewers have fully studied the imagery in this section there eye is then captured by the irregular faced title that reads the words greed. I believe that Eduardo has caused a clear contrast in colour that is most obvious in the dark brown hair and the pale green background .
dali explination
The artist of this collage has made its subject matter very obvious doing so by using a very large image of Salvador dallies face that also acts as the main focal point of this collage, capturing the attention of its audience with dallies left eye that has been done through the use of a clear contrast in color that can be seen taking place in the very light grey skin of Dallie and a dark grey semi-circle that frames this section. I also think that the artist has fashioned this collage in this busy way to reflect their interpretation of Salvador dallies somewhat eccentric personality and surrealist arts. This artist has glorified both Salvador dallies eyes first framing them with the use of a grey semi-circle and then with an underlying dark pattern, tear marks and a cluster of ants. A characteristic I suspect the artist has done to imply to the viewer that the artist admires dallies artistic vision. This collage has an interesting flow first capturing my eye with its main focal point and then draws my eye to analyse Salvadore dallies right eye. after this, the artists then captures my attention with the use of dallies original moustache of which has a curved shape that effectively frames both eyes almost influencing my eye to start this flow of attention all over again

dark road actualy cropped
The artist of this collage has presented its audience with an image of building like objects that have been crafted out of what appears to be strips out of old books, sheets of music and magazines and has drawn a dark and light road travelling through the buildings that a human figure can be seen walking down. I believe that the artist is trying to translate the concept of loneliness through this imagery due to the fact that there are no other human-like figures in this collage and it is because of this that I have come to the conclusion that the artist of this collage is attempting to express their experience of suffering this common state of mind presenting it as a very dark emotion, symbolising this through the artists use of varying shades of black that gradually fade to grey, creating a depressing and alumnus mood.
The artist of this piece has fashioned his main focal point in the form of the human silhouette of which looks as though it is walking down this dark path. A characteristic that exists because the silhouette in this image shows the darkest shade of black and has been placed within the section of this collage that shows the largest amount of the lightest shades of grey, effectively causing a strong contrast in colour.
The flow of this image first captures my attention with the dark figure and the road and then draws my attention to the largest buildings on the left hand side of this college then once I had studied the building like objects my eye wanders to the cloud like background and then finally towards the smaller/thinner building on the left of this image.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
This simple collage does not present its viewers with many images and only uses three, an image of a male ripping open the centre of a piece of paperwork to reveal a picture of a bright image of a seascape and a palm tree. This collage has a great amount of contrast accruing in between the white and subtle blacks of the paperwork, the dark red, blue and tand skin colour of the male and also the blue, white and green from the seascape. I believe that the artist of this collage is trying to address the commonly felt want to be in a better location people often feel while at work but may also be explaining the reason people work so hard is to be able to afford going to these exotic locations.
The artist of this collage has fashioned his main focal point in the form of the male in this image doing so by making the colours of the male stand out extremely well through the use of a simple white background that has subtle black markings and by placing it in middle section of this piece supports the idea of this image being the centre of attention and adds context to the rest of the collage explaining that the imagery all explain the wants and experiences of this male.
The flow of this image first captured the attention of its audience with the picture of the struggling male acting as its main focal point after this my eye is then drawn to look at the large piece of paperwork that tells my eye to study the rip within its centre of which is the bright seascape.
human grown
This collage presents its viewer with an image of an explosion of which appears to be being harvested as if it were a plant by a pair of human hands. Imagery of which I believe the artist has created in order to translate the idea that man-made products are not prosperous and will always be destructive. however, I also interpret this piece as being an explanation of this fact that we are a natural species of this world thus our inventions can be seen as a natural product.
The main focal point of this collage is the knife of which looks as though it is about to cut through the explosive cloud  a characteristic of which I believe the artist has created to immediately label the  second image of focus, the image of the explosion as being image that symbolises a plant as opposed to just being interpreted as an explosion. After this, my attention is then called to observe both of the large hands that reach down from this image in a godly fashion.
The artist of this collage does not use a lot of bright colours, only using shades of white, browns and yellows and the darkest colour used can be seen taking place in the wrists of the hands causing an obvious amount of contrast while not drawing attention away from the main focal point.
what i have seen
he artist of this image has presented its audience with a hand-drawn image of an eye that looks as though it is crying blood. I believe that the artist of this image is trying to express the subject of experienced and witnessed  pain, a conclusion I have come to as I interpret the blood tear that appears to be escaping the eye and travels down the page as a symbol of emotional pain and due to the fact that it is escaping the eye causes me to assume that the cause of this blood tear originates from something that the artist has seen.
The red, black and white colour scheme of this collage is effective as I believe that these colours symbolise the painful content of this imagery and also believe these colours to aide in creating the depressing mood of this collage
The main focal point of this collage is the large hand-drawn eye a characteristic of which I believe exsists due to the fact that this particular image is one of the largest pictures and also is the only picture that displays a subtle blue colour. As well as this I think that the artist of this collage has done this to add context to the rest of the imagery as by capturing their attention with the eye effectively suggests to the viewer that the other imagery that they observe after this image all relate to the picture of the eye
eduard-recife_ny-times-illustration
is collage was created by Eduardo Recife he has presented his audience with an image of a young girl of who has a large black and white patterned cloud shape covering her eyes. with her hands in the pear position while being sat at a dinner table of which is presenting her with a small pile of money on a plate while various different fruits can be seen surrounding the table and a large Dimond has been positioned above the child’s head. I believe that Eduardo is trying to translate the way that children are ignorant to the source of there essential resources such as food and clothing symbolising this by replacing the idea of food being on a plate with money being on a plate, representing the fact that food is bought with money and clarifying the way that children are oblivious to this fact through the use of the cloud. I have also noticed that Eduardo has fashioned his main focal point in the form of the black and white patterned cloud a composition choice which I think works because this particular image shows the darkest colour and the most obvious contrast in colour. I suspect that Eduardo has made this image the main focal point to indicate to the viewer that all the imagery in this collage is relevant to the picture of this cloud and due to the fact that this cloud represents the idea of ignorance causes the other images in this collage to also relate to this subject.  After Eduardo has captured the audience’s attention with his main focal point hew then draws the audiences eye to the young girl after this image has been studied the eye is then guided to the table of food of which after the eye is then allowed to observe the imagery in the top left corner.

change_yourself_old-1637@2x

This collage by Eduardo reciefe titled change your self presents its audience with an image of a child led on the floor with hot water bottles on both arms while a green plant appears to be growing from out of his chest. Eduardo has made his subject matter very clear with the use of his large title that reads change your self clearly labelling this image as a piece about bettering a persons self. he has symbolised this concept through the use of the two water bottles placed on both arms as this highly suggests that this child has been enduring strenuous activity with the use of his arms and may potentially be attempting to ease the after the pain of this task. Another characteristic that supports this concept is the plant that can be seen growing from out the chest of this young child as this symbolises the idea of self-growth and the fact that Eduardo has designated this particular image to be the only picture to show light shades of greens and yellows suggests that the plant is healthy clarifying the positivity of this personal growth. The plant of this collage acts as the main focal point capturing the viewer’s attention before the rest of this imagery because of its green and yellow colour that stands out against the black and white of the majority of the collage. after the viewer has studied this image there eye is then guided to the young boy lead on the floor. Then the dark burgundy circled that read the words true attract the attention of the viewer after which the audience then reads the large bold title. I admire the way in which Eduardo has presented the image of the young boy and the plant as by framing it in this photograph like way allows the other imagery to studied as if they were separate images. As opposed to if the photograph were to take us the entire piece while the other pictures were displayed on top.

land scape multy media collage 2 jpeg
This is an image of the beginnings of my first collage design.  I began this collage by first placing the buildings in this collage in to position.  i found these images within a book titled the shock of the new of which i took a photo of and cropped and edited inorder to include them in my design. i then began the sean of the street that can be seen taking place in between the images of the buildings. i found these images within various different comic books. finally i then added the faint triangular shape that can be seen taking place within the centre of this collage.  this shape has been used as to outline the frame of where my main focal point will take place. I believe the beggings of this collage to be somewhat successful as i feel that i have started to create a great framing technique through my use of the buildings as well as this i also think that i have created a somewhat dramatic sean through my use of imagery and stratigic angling as i have designed the buildings of my collage to appear to be extending outward. even though i find this collage apealing i feel i have used the designs of others to much and will look to icorperate more originl art works .

sunny day collage black and white
This is an image of my final collage design. I have presented my viewer with an image of a hand reaching towards a flower styled sun and another cartoonesc sun which has a large smiley face. Tentacles can be seen escaping from buildings as the light from the sun like flower can be seen tearing through the flesh of the tentacles. I have fashioned my main focal point in the form of the hand that can be seen reaching towards the sun as to symbolise the grate want to get better that people of whom suffer with mental health issues posses. My second focal point has been fashioned in the form of the buildings, a style choice of which i had created as to frame my main focal point. I then finally capture the attention of my audience with the octopus’s tentacles of which extend from the buildings. i have designed this in this way as to cause the buildings to be interpreted as being filled with monster-like creatures. As to express to my audience the intense experience that mental health sufferers live within. I also believe this design to be original and eye-catching.

SPOTTED HAND UN GROUPED jpg
this image is both an ink drawing of a hand reaching a sun-like flower of which has been filed with an image that displays a range of different colours which I have painted on to a page using a mixture of both ink and watercolour. Which I have styled to graduate from displaying bright colours of oranges, reds and yellows to showing colours of blues, purples, pinks and lighter shades off yellows. I have included this bright colour scheme as I believe these colours best symbolise the positivity of escaping mental illness. I achieved this look by first duplicating the image of the hand drawing of which I then used the quick selection tool to select the interior of the hand shape of which I then deleted. After this, I then placed the image of my multicoloured painting behind the image of the hand.i added two different versions of the colourfull painting behind this image and after correctly positioning them I then blended these two different paintings into each other using the masking tool and gradient method.

some of the images on this resources page have been taken from out of a book titled the shock of the new while others have been taken from old comics and the rest have been drawn and painted with ink and watercolour.
very colour full collage finished i think jpg .jpg
In this collage, I have used a range of media such as photography, of which can be seen taking place through the images of the building i also used Pen and ink for the tentacles, sun-rays and clouds. I have also used ink and watercolour in the makings of the colourfull interior of the hand. As well as this I used the photoshop paint bucket tool to colourise my flower-like sun. and field the triangle shape using the gradient colour tool within Photoshop to create this sky like effect. I have designed the hand, sky and suns in these bright colours in order to express the positive meanings that belong to these images. I have also used the absence of these bright colours in the black and white stylings of the tentacles that appear to be extending from out of the buildings in order to express the dark and depressing meaning behind this particular image.  I have included the image of an octopus tentacle as to symbolise to my audience the fact that the mind of a mentally ill person can be an almost monstrous entity. from my perspective this final design is effective a beliefe i have come to as I feel that I have created a large amount of contrast in colour that can mainly be seen taking place between the multicoloured stylings of the hand, the bright yellow, orange and red colours of the sun in this image against the graduated dark blue to light blue colour of the triangularly shaped background. This contrast in colour has made my main focal point more effective as this causes it to stand out extremely well. Even though I believe my collage to be somewhat successful I still think that this final outcome could be improved. I would do this by creating the tentacle that is stretching from out of this collage longer and in a bolder fashion by painting it in light shades of grey and blue ink in order to make this section of this collage more eye-catching.
very colour full collage finished witrh moon word press
Here I have again furthered my design by restyling the smiley face image. doing so by adding two texturised pattern on of which was an orange and black geometrical like pattern. While the other was a section of the very colourfull pattern in which can be seen taking place filling in the hand of this design in which I overlayed on top of the first texture resulting in my final piece.

screaming excape dictation jpg .jpg
This is the beginnings of my second collage. I have presented my audience with an image of a large building of which an army of women dressed in uniform can be seen appearing to be walking from out of the building as two large males wearing black and red uniforms over tower the army of women. while a large reoccurring mouth like pattern can be seen stretching up the page behind these two males. I have designed my collage in this way as to express the idea of the relentless control that mental illness can have over a person life. Doing so by first representing the idea of the source of mental illness as being the large angry looking males that are overlooking the line of women.  while the marching women in this collage symbolise the forced ways of intrusive thoughts. and the image of the large reoccurring pattern that looks like a mouth has been included to resemble a scream to express the torment of this mental status.
collage 2 layer one
This is an image of the first layer of the second design in which I have begun to incorporate into my design. This image displays a picture of a woman escaping the first section of this collage into a rip like hole in the page that I have also drawn a green balloon and a flower emerging from.  also visible in this collage is a broken strip from a board game. these newly added images have been created using ink, watercolour and pencil shading.
final collage 2 for word press
This is my second final design in this design I have presented my viewer with an image of a bored game pattern that surrounds the original design of this collage while also re-positioning the pattern of the colourfull background texture that I had originally placed to the left-hand side of the beginnings of this design I have also included a new design of a woman climbing in to what I have drawn to appear to be a hole like rip in the page. Of which is revealing a flower and a smiling ballon. I have created these colourfull overtones by placing the multicoloured background on top of the ballon and flower image that I then set to overlay. if you will also acknowledge the orange and grey background that can be seen within this section of this collage is that of a picture that I have taken from a book. I integrated this into my design by first placing it in this position after which I changed the colour vibrancy through the use of the exposure tool. This collage had been created using a combination of materials including images that have been taken from out of a book and scan in these pictures can be seen taking place in the images of the buildings, two male officers and the largemouth like looking red and black pattern. I have also used ink, watercolour that I had painted the first layer of my collage with, pencil shading that I had filed the petals of the flower with. while the multi collared background texture has been crafted using both watercolour and ink.

Design Report
This is an image of my second final collage. In this collage, I have presented my audience with an image of three buildings that have a large red and black mouth like pattern in the background in which I have added as to symbolise a scream. While two stern looking males appear to be overseeing the movement of the large line of solder like women I have placed these males in this way in hopes it would look as though that they are ordering the line of women to reflect the uncontrollable flow of sick thought that a people who suffer from poor mental health have to endure on a daily bases. I have placed these women upon a picture broken bored game of which display blood like footprints I have done this due to the fact that people who suffer from mental health issues usually experience vicious mental cycles of which can be described as being having to suffer through mind games.
I began this design by first gathering images from various books of which caused me to find seven different images. The first of which was a large red and black mouth like pattern, three large buildings, an image of two stern looking males in uniform, an orange and black image that showed various shapes that I would later use as a background texture and finally an image of a line of marching women. Having found these images, I then began to place them into position. Once this was done, I then started to edit these images separately. While doing this I changed the colour vibrancy and the lighting of all these pictures using the exposure tool. After I had done that I then began designing my hand-drawn images of which I began by drawing a broken strip of a board game, a crack like hole in the centre or my page that I then drew an odd smiling balloon and a flower with revealing themselves from out of this crack and finished this design off with an image of a woman entering this rip. Once I was happy with my design, I then started to add some subtle colours by painting the balloon in green watercolour and the exterior shadows of the flower in a dark red watercolour and painted the footprints on the board game in a very dark red ink.
I then started a texturized background using both watercolour and ink creating a very colourful image. That I would also use as a background after doing this I then scanned in my images and began to edit them again first adjusting the brightness of the colour using the brightness and contrast tool. After doing so I then got rid of any gaps in my ink lines using the paintbrush in order to create a more complete and finished look.
Once this was done I then began to incorporate my two background textures placing my orange and black image over my largest hand-drawn image of the crack like tear in the design of which I then lowered  the opacity of in order to make transparent, allowing me to cut the access imagery away and make alterations I then returned the opacity of this background back to its original status, resulting in this background fitting the outline of my design perfectly. To add to my background I then placed my multicoloured texture over this and set my image to overlay and subtracted sections with the eraser and polygon lasso tool  causing it to only cover the image of both the sun and the flower while also leaving a small sections amongst the background resulting in  what I believe is a very interesting background effect. I finished off my design by  then using the polygon tool to select a section from the board game design of which I duplicated many times and strategically placed these duplicates behind the image of the building and the scream like pattern of which I believe well frames the lower section of my design and placed my colourful background texture within the centre of the board game .

unit 3-8 Mixed media image making and final collage .

potato head
This is my final potato head design, I feel that the final result is rather good as I have placed the fetchers of this face within the right proportions. This image was created through the use of the magnetic lasso tool of which I drew around each facial fetcher with that allowed me to detach my chosen images from there original background, enabling me to use them in the construction of this face.

space man subtraction

space man and ice
This piece was originally one image of an astronaut in orbit and a fictional arctic, space like landscape. I integrated these two images by first using the magnetic lasso tool that I drew around the astronaut in this piece, which allowed me to cut it from its original background with precision and ease after which I then placed it in front of this imaginative landscape. even tho using the magnetic lasso tool was effective I found that it took a little longer than the magic wand method if I were to do this task again I would have chosen a more dramatic background and also added a shadow underneath the astronaut. however i do feel that this image has rather successful qualities one of which I believe can be first seen in the way in which the right side of this astronauts body is brightly lit as this fact causes the light from the planet in the background to look as tho it is shining upon the astronaut making this image look somewhat believable.
CAT SPACE WATER
for this image I have created a piece that looks as though a cat is about to leap in to a pool of water on a strange planet , I feel that this image is rather imaginative however the cat has not integrated with the background as well as I would have hoped  if I were to do this piece again I would create a design that displays a larger image of a cat as to stress how bazaar the idea of a cat being in space is. I would have also added a shadow like reflection in the water to make the overall image look more believable.
adjusting picture
For this piece, I was asked to adjust the various values of this picture, of which I feel I have done well as all of the colours that make up this image are present and I have edited this piece in such a way that the shadows are very prominent and add dimension to this piece. while editing this photo I ensured that this image would not lose any detail I made sure of this by purposely keeping this photo rather light. I believe that even though the final outcome of this task is very clear I feel that I should have edited the colours in this image to appear as being more vibrant than they are presently. I also feel that the outcome of this image looks rather blue and feel that this causes the setting of this image to appear to be occurring on a cold day rather than what was presumably a warm summers day.

bug cut guessed

coffee_time
I feel that I have completed this task well as I have successfully edited the bug so it appears to be submerged in tea within the cup. I have accomplished this effect by first cutting the bug in this picture from its original image, I did this through the use of the magic wand tool of which i first clicked on to the back ground and then clicked on the inversion tool and then cut the image of the bug out of its back ground allowing me to then place it in front if this tea cup. After this was done i then began combining the two images together by painting a small part of the lower body of this beetle with the same colour of the tea, causing the bug to appear to be in the liquid. I furthered this effect by gradually lowering the opacity layer by layer with my paintbrush. while doing this I made sure that the legs of this beetle would remain faintly visible as I believed that this design choice causes this picture to look more realistic. once the integrating of the beetle and the tea was finished I then began to creating the ripple effect that can be seen taking place in this cup, I created this effect by first clicking the distort option of which I then scrolled down and selected the distort function that revealed to me the zigzag tool. this tool allowed me to create a wave like an effect that I could adjust the frequency of so I went on to create three ripples as I felt that this frequency was appropriate. finally, I then created a drop shadow to the plate of this piece by double-clicking the picture of the cup and plate, this caused a various amount of options to appear to which I used the drop shadow function from this enabled me to create the shadow of this plate.
city with out shadow
This image of a city is what I have chosen to create the background of my hoax news piece. I have chosen this particular image as I believe it to be a suitable canvas for this task as it is in focus and displays a great amount of clear colour. I have also chosen an image of a city in particular as in my opinion the idea of an event happening in a city or town may cause my viewer to more interested or concerned about this event as it is taking place in a very public setting

jeraff in citty
This image was created to act as false news to which I have decided to presented my audience with an image of an oversized giraffe towering over a city I feel that this image is somewhat successful but could be greatly improved by using sharper images and editing them so that they look within better proportion to each other. I have also made sure to incorporate a subtle shadow to this image as to cause the overall piece to look more realistic. even tho this image is rather unbelievable I don’t feel it is dramatic enough and does not shock y viewer enough there for I will look to create another hoax news image of which will be more dramatic.

This image of a city is what i have chosen to crate the back ground of my hoax news piece. i have chosen this particular image as i believe it to be a suitable canvas for this task as it is in focus and displays a grate amount of clear colour. I have also chosen a image of a city in particular as in my opinion the idea of a event happening in a city or town may cause my viewer to more interested or concerned about this event as it is taking place in a very public setting
snake subtraction
This image of a city is what I have chosen to create the background of my hoax news piece. I have chosen this particular image as I believe it to be a suitable canvas for this task as it is in focus and displays a great amount of clear colour. I have also chosen an image of a city in particular as in my opinion the idea of an event happening in a city or town may cause my viewer to more interested or concerned about this event as it is taking place in a very public setting
snake and people by the sea
This Is the final outcome of my second hoax, I believe that I have successfully created a more dramatic scene through my use of placing a more threatening animal in a public place, I also like the look of the shadow that I have created in this image as from my perspective this has caused the overall image to look more realistic. As well as this I feel that both of these images work well due to the fact that the positioning of the woman in the image on the waterfront appears to be looking at the snake that is now coming out of the water. However, I still believe that this image looks rather fake a disappointing fact of which I will look to eliminate in future hoax pieces.
snake and people by the sea waves
In this image i have created a subtle wave effect of which i began by first selecting the filter option to which revealed the distort list that included the zigzag function/ i then clicked this function  that allowed me to crate waves veering in frequency from looking some what subtle to becoming very extreme having discovered this i chose to form a subtle, vet visible wave effect that believe further causes this image to seam realistic.

This piece began as three separate images of which I have combined together by first cropping the road that is now in this image from its original photo, i did this by using the rectangular shaping tool of which I drew around the road and a small section of the sky with, I then turned on the feather tool that I set to 120. this then allowed me to subtract my selected portion of this image from its background in a non block-like fashion of which effectively covered over and blended well in to my second image. After I had done this I then had to change the colour of the road to the same red colour of the background , I did this by first clicking on the image selection that then revealed the match colour tool that I selected my page as the source and I then  selected the layer which held the red road background to which then successfully changed the colour of the  once blue and grey road to this red colour. then repeating this cutting and matching colour formula I integrated the moon. I finished this image by finally drawing a rectangle of which I made transparent by lowering its opacity.
thumbnail_CG-UNIFLOW-RPS_CG_6E05_Canon5255ADV_0040_001 copy
This is an image of the various leaves that I have chosen for this task of which I will individually take out from this picture using the direct selection tool.
flower leaves different colour
In this image you will see the many ways in which I have edited my pictures of leaves, if you will acknowledge the fact that I have transformed these once boring leaves in to ones of which now show very bright colours of reds, yellows oranges and greens effects that have been made possible through the use of the colour balance tools in photoshop. And also the contrast adjustment tool. I am very pleased with these outcomes. I have chosen these colours in particular as these adjustments were carried out while possessing the intention of still having these leaves look natural as I wanted to translate the idea of autumn through my patterns.
green and brown
I believe that this pattern is elegant and aesthetically pleasing. while making this pattern my intentions were to keep the colours natural looking a colour scheme of which I think is effective however I felt that I should start experimenting with brighter colours such as reds, yellows, oranges and lighter shades of green.
flower with out extra leaves
In this design I have started using brighter colours an experiment of which I feel has proven to be rather effective as I believe this pattern to be more eye-catching an effect, I suspect is due to the stronger contrast in colours.
flower with dottsss
In this pattern, I have introduced the use of the feather tool of with I Incorporated by first drawing ovals and circles around other leaves with while having selected the feather tool this allowed me to take sections from other leaves and place them on to my pattern a fact of which I believe to have been rather effective. However, I do feel that this patter is not extravagant enough and will look to create another pattern having this in mind.
bird hotell .
I began the makings of this image by first duplicating the already separate image of the two penguins after doing so i then repositioned the penguins of the right cutting it from its original place using the direct selection tool i then began creating the shadows belonging to the penguins  by again making  another copy of these birds that I painted entirely black causing them to now look like black silhouettes, having done this I then made these silhouettes transparent and began to turn them and elongate them in to this shadowing position, making sure to match the now grey penguin figures with the feet of the original penguin pictures. After this, I got rid of the black space that once occupied the very top of this image using the magic wand tool that I used to delete this black portion revealing a new background of seagulls. having done this I started to populate the hotel with various birds I started this by deleting the inner squares of the windows using the polygon lasso tool that I drew around the window frame with that allowed me to delete the content within this shape. after this, I placed an image of an eagle that I had earlier cut from a separate image using the direct selection method looking as tho it is flying out of the window. I then repeated this method on the window on the right side of this building that I filled the empty space with a flamingo appearing to be looking out of this window. I then believed that placing head of an ostrich coming from out of the chimney of this hotel would be somewhat interesting  and Hu furthered this design by placing the body of an ostrich in plain sight having its head in the sand a style choice I hoped would suggest to my audience that the  storage head appearing out from the chimney was belonging to the body of the ostrich in the sand. I finished this piece with the addition of the goose wearing a monical peering out from over the building.
soreing eagle steps
In this image, I have made sure to create a more obvious fading effect, a fact that I have achieved by blending three images of which had quite noticeably different shades of blue occupying the backgrounds. from my perspective this has greatly benefited the overall image as this fact has caused these once three separate images to better appear to be one large image and I feel that I have effectively caused a more obvious faded look

roses befor blend

rose blend jpeg
If you will acknowledge the fact that in this banner I have used more images a choice that I amused would cause the end result to appear to be more eye-catching and cause a more interesting flow. however, from my perspective, the outcome has revealed that the banners only showing three images to be much clearer and effective.
face changing .jpg
I began this piece by first duplicating the original picture to which i then created a layer mask by clicking the quick layer-mask tool. After i had done this i then changed the quick masking options setting to selected arias. Then i began to paint over the hair belonging to the woman in this image. Having done this I selected the hair by again clicking on the quick masking tool of which outlined the hair allowing me to edit the colour. I did this by first clicking on the image selection that then revealed me to the adjustments function to which presented me with the curves tool that I then made alterations to. I used this method to transform individual sections of this picture throughout this task.  I have chosen this blue and purple colour scheme in order to create a winter like theme of which I feel has resulted in a rather successful outcome that is both subtle and effective.
photo shop bike colge
I believe that i have executed this task well an opinion i have due to the fact that the images in my collage are still clear even tho they have been edited a characteristic of which causes the over all image to look less abstract ,a stile choice i had set out to achieve while designing this collage. Another characteristic i like about my collage is my dominantly yellow, orange ,black and brown colour scheme that can occasionally be seen fading in to pinks, purples, blues and greens. This collage began with me first placing the image that would soon become by main focal point in the centre of my canvas that image being the picture of a person on a motorised bike in the centre of a city, to which i then made roughly three copies of, having done this i then started editing these copies individual and differently after that i then selected the overlay tool to which blended my images together. Once this piece had begun i started to take specific sections and pieces from a list of images i was given to carry out this task , starting this part by using the quick selection tool to take my chosen characters from a image filed with scattered numbers and letters of which i strategically placed on the face of the building and also at the bottom left and right had corners of this collage. Finding this style appealing i exercised a different method for this task now using the polygon lasso tool that i drew triangle shapes around the letters and numbers with to cut them from there back grounds. I put this method in to practice three times of which the results of this can be seen taking place in both the top right corner where i have presented my audience with a blue black and purple triangle shape full of letters and at the very bottom right corner that shows a orange triangle with the letter A in its centre the final triangle can be found blending in to the already existing letters within the bottom left corner of this collage. The image i was now left with looked rather dull so i decided to create a colourful back ground. I did this by blending three images in to my back ground one that was very orange and slightly yellow that i made significantly brighter using the brightness and contrast tool. Another was a brightly light road at night that i used the over lay tool to take only the shine from the street lights and the red and yellow lights that a car had made. The third image was a blue and green water colour painting that i again made brighter using the brightness and contrast tools once i was satisfied with the colours and new positioning of these pictures i then set them to overlay.

beach colage

indinisia colage before finished
This is the beginning of my Indonesian collage, these images have been taken from there original backgrounds and integrated in to this piece using a combination of tools such the quick masking method of which I used to select the image of the women dressed in carnival uttier and the Indonesian temple as this tool allowed me to effectively select the instruct ways of these images. and I had also used the rectangular marquee tool that I selected the larger images with such as the image of calm waters that occupies the very bottom of this collage and also both the images of the volcano and the Indonesian statue and finally the picture of the waterfall. After I had exercised these various ways of cutting and pasting images I then began to merge these images together using the layer masking tool which combined with the gradient tool allowed me to create this blended look. Having got to this stage I became very fond of the way I have framed this image of a waterfall with this Indonesian temple as I felt that the combination of these two images would make a very effective main focal point as I believed it to be aesthetically pleasing and attention-grabbing.
indinisia colage finished ish
This picture shows the first combination of images I had created for this task. I believe that this collage is somewhat successful because of the fact that I have chosen images that almost naturally integrate in to each other an effect that can be seen taking place in the way that the top of the waterfall image and the based of the new picture of volcanoes appear to be matching in the colour green. this can similarly be seen occurring up the left-hand side of this collage in the way that I have selected images in a very blue scale while on the right-hand side I have used pictures that show warm colours like yellows oranges and browns. I have done this in order to create a clear contrast in colour an intention I believe has been successful as well as this I have also placed these images, that create good contrast around the edges of this collage to exaggerate the way that the temple in the middle of this picture frames the image of a waterfall
indinesia think im done jpeg.jpg
In this version of my Indonesian collage I re-created the framing technique that I created in my earlier collage, however, I have chosen to use fewer images as I believed the old collage to look too overcrowded. I have replaced the blue images that I placed on the left-hand side of my collage with an image of parrot wings that I have set to overlay to create this elegant look. this allowed me to integrate more colour into my collage without overpowering the rest of the picture.  Even tho I have simplified this image I feel that it is still to busy there for I will look to simplify my collage in further development.
indinesia think actualt finished
This is an image of my final Indonesian college of which I have developed further by minimising the amount of imagery I hade included in the previous version of this poster . of which I have done by subtracting the picture of the female natives that I had originally placed in the top left-hand corner and a picture of brightly colour flowers that I had originally set to overlay and had placed them over the very top mountain. I have also better blended these images together and as a result, this poster is now less crowded with images and as a much more natural flow.
ww2 collage colour with out white space re aranged.jpg
The images within this collage are all world war 2 based. I am very proud of this final outcome as I believe this poster to be original and intriguing as I have included a very bright colour that can be seen travelling down the centre line of this college,a characteristic of which I believe attracts the attention of my audience due to the fact that usually imagery that is based upon the war commonly presents there audience with very loyal colours of green, brown and grey or are usually in black and white. The images in this collage were originally separate from each other. I subtracted the sections of the separate images that I wanted by using the polygon tool of which I drew around my selected area that enabled me to take it from its background. having done this I then positioned my pictures in place and began to blend them together using the masking tool and the gradient tool that I set to fade to transparent. The different colours that run through the center of this collage are images of colour powder explosions that I found on the internet of which I selected these chosen areas through the use of the quick masking tool that I made sure was set to select selected area that let me cut them from there backgrounds allowing me to strategically place this in this position after which I then set these pictures to overlay.
METAL
to create this texturised text I first began by typing the word metal with a new text I had downloaded from the website Da Font. com of which I placed in the centre of my page. after I had written my text I then double clicked my text layer of which revealed the gradient tool in with I created a gradient on my text on with, that I set to fade to transparent . after having done this I then imported my metal gid texture of which I placed on top of my text and changed its setting to overlay of which caused the new metallic image to appear only within my text. after this was done I them began the background doing to by unlocking the background layer and creating a radial gradient that I set to fade from yellow to orange. I then locked all of my existing layers and imported a rested metal texturised image that I set to overlay the background. Even tho this effect was effective I still felt that the overall design was not ascetically pleasing .
METAL final
This image is a result of the further development of my original metal design I believe that this put come is better as I have created better contrast causing the textures I have used to look more prominent and I feel that I have caused a more eye-catching look with my additional texturised images that I placed in the corners of this image.

collage with clouds word press version
This collage was constructed with images I have taken from a ready-made list of pictures while the other half of the images in this collage I have taken out of various magazines. To start this image I first began by placing my main focal point into position that is the large image of the female. After having done this I then took an image of a butterfly wing from my given list of images doing so through the use of the quick masking tool of which I made sure to be set to selected areas and then I covered the butterfly wing with the masking tool allowing me to subtract it from its background. I then chose to tessellate this image covering a small percentage of the hair belonging to the woman in my piece. Then repeating this method I created the swirl like cloud image that can be seen taking place on the right-hand side. To further this design I also used the ink marks from my list of images I was given and placed them underneath my cloud pattern as to resemble rain. due to my image now explaining a rain cloud sean I added to this idea by placing a torn image of a curved, orange steel object and made three copies of this object and roughly connected them in hopes it would resemble a rainbow , I also placed an ink mark at the right end on his new image to appear to be a cloud. after being pleased with this outcome I came across an image in another magazine of a stained  pillow that had a plashed paint look that I believed would add colour to my collage of which it did after I had made several copies of this stain and edited them to show different colours of which I did by selecting the image option of which allowed me to select the adjustments tool that revealed the colour balance selection that enabled me to wildly change the original colour of the stain.

Docs collage half done word press
This collage has been constructed by a few pictures from the docs slideshow that I have included above this images. I began this image by placing the face of my statue in the very centre of what would be my collage as this would soon become my main focal point. I retrieved this image through the use of the quick masking tool of which I drew around the face of the original image of the statue that once had a torso. after I had positioned my image using the same quick masking method I placed an image of the steel cross like object of which has two locks hung on it, behind the face of my statue. After this was done I decided to create my image to resemble I pirate as I believed this topic best fitted the concept of the Bristol docs. I put this idea into practice by using sections of images of decorative wooden benches that I cut triangular shaped out of using the polygon tool that I then formed into the shape of a pirate hat. To further this design I then incorporated the image of patterned steel into the right-hand side of the statues face in hopes that the now pirate like statue would also resemble a boat and to finish the boat effect off I included a picture of a red and white steel road post to the top of the hat to look like a mast of a ship. once this look was finished I completed this collage with various street arts that I discovered along the way all of which included the picture of the fish that is vomiting rubbish, the bluefish and finally the bottles of beer that is protruding from the left-hand side of the statue face.

As well as this the contrast in style that the individual images have complemented each other well and cause the separate aspects of the images to stand out better as opposed to if the imagery that makes up this collage were to all be within the same media.
I also interpret the rainbow like the streak that can be seen taking place in the centre line of this collage as a symbol of promise this is due to the fact that the Christian bible teaches that an image of a rainbow can represent a promise.
The composition of this collage effectively draws the eye upwards attracting the viewer’s attention at the bottom section of this poster through the use of the pale face. Then attracting the viewer’s attention through the use of colour that takes place within the flowers and foliage. Then finally the audiences attention is forced upwards as they observe the inner rainbow colours.
lill boy
This piece was created at the hands of Eduardo Recife, he gave this collage the title the battle within. He has presented his audience with imagery of a young child wearing a calm expression while holding an alcoholic bottle that has been set alight with the words hung within a banner that read don’t give up.
Then the viewer’s eye is allowed to almost freely scan the overall design in order to view the randomly scattered ink masking and flowers.
greed.jpg
s piece titled greed was created by Eduardo Recife. Eduardo has caused an irregular flow as the first draws the viewers attention to his main focal point that of which is the woman’s head. This he then guides the eye downwards to the pink and purple fabric and after the viewers have fully studied the imagery in this section there eye is then captured by the irregular faced title that reads the words greed. I believe that Eduardo has caused a clear contrast in colour that is most obvious in the dark brown hair and the pale green background but is also visible
dali explination
This collage has a interesting flow first capturing my eye with its main focal point and then draws my eye to analyse Salvadore dallies left eye after this the artists then captures my attention with the use of dallies original moustache of which has a curved shape that effectively frames both eyes almost influencing my eye to start this flow of attention all over again

dark road actualy cropped

After this, I then placed the image of my multicoloured painting behind the image of the hand.i added two different versions of the colourfull painting behind this image and after correctly positioning them I then blended these two different paintings into each other using the masking tool and gradient method.

resorses page jpg
some of the images on this resources page have been taken from out of a book titled the shock of the new while others have been taken from old comics and the rest have been drawn and painted with ink and watercolour.
very colour full collage finished i think jpg .jpg

I have also used ink, watercolour that I had painted the first layer of my collage with, pencil shading that I had filed the petals of the flower with. while the multi collared background texture has been crafted using both watercolour and ink.

final collage 2 for word press

Unit 03 ideas and concepts in art and design.

p8690_v_v8_aa

The first thing notice is about this poster is the large grinning somewhat frightening  face of this poster. this is due to the fact that the eyes of this face are located in the most commonly focused on section of an image this is a good characteristic as this presents the audience with presumably the main characters of this film. as well as this i also admire the way that this picture stands out so dramatically while sharing the same colour scheme with the majority of the background of this piece.
the second portion of this poster that stands out to its viewer is the large orange and yellow informal title of which has the first and last character of this poster stretching downwards along the top positron of this poster.
this characteristic best explains the contents of this film due to the resemblance that the first and last characters of this text have with the long teeth of the monster on the front of this poster.
the final area of interest is the house that occupies the bottom of this poster of which presents its viewer with one window that a silhouette stands in. suggesting to its viewer that this is the person who the monster of this poster is focusing on.

p10884_v_v8_aa
This poster is successful due to firstly the artists well excited use of the rule of thirds of which successfully attracts the viewers attention straight to the middle section of this poster where the main focal point of this poster is that being the large clown noise that protrudes from the face of the ghoulish clown  . This fact may be due to the size of the nose and the clear contrast of which occurs between the dark redness of the nose and the blue and white colours of which make up the face of the clown. i believe that the creator of this poster has chosen to make this his main focal point to indicate to its viewers that the clown of this poster is the main character of this film this film. As well as this i suspect the creator of crating the noise of this clown at this magnitude was an act of calling the viewers attention towards the only clear and threatening aspects of horror in this poster of which is the crooked and distorted mouth and eyes of this clown. The second focal point section of this poster is the very pointed red and white outlined tile that reads killer klowns. the pointed styling of this typeface caused the text to look threatening ,sharp and hazardous an effect that i amuse that the creator has done as to translate that the killer clowns that this text is referring are also hazards and posses sharp characteristics or objects of which are threatening this section also presents its viewer with a separate blue and different style of text that reads from outer space of which characters vary in size being very large at both ends of the title to gradually getting smaller towards the centre. I believe that the artist has done this as to stress the unorthodox origin of these clowns. the third and final section of which the viewer focuses on is the bottom section of this poster where the text that reads in space no one can eat ice cream is located. the composition of this text has been done n such a way that it appears to be showing over the heads of a young couple. this is due to the arced form of the sentence and the variation in size that starts rather small and gradually getting larger as the text reads from the left side over to the right side of the poster. the red white ,blue and yellow colours of this poster cause enhance the effectiveness of this poster as these are all colours of which are most commonly thought to belong to clowns.
return-of-the-living-dead-2-movie-poster-1988-1010270323
This poster is a successful comedy horror poster firstly because of the way i admirer the cartoon and imaginative qualities of this poster and also because of the artists well executed use of the rule of thirds of which draws the attention of its viewer to the centre section towards the main focal point of this image of which i believe to be the eyes of the cloud skull of this poster a feature i believe is due to the fact that the location of the eyes of the skull of this poster happen to be in the most commonly focused on portion of a image as this is where the eyes of a person would be located if the image were to be a life sized human face.
the second aria of focused is the bottom half of this poster where the title reads return of the living dead part 2 this text has been fashioned in a slightly elongated, bright red and chunky text . this text is successful in my opinion as i feel that the red colour contrasts well with the very dark ,black graves at the bottom of this piece. as well as this i also feel that it best explains the title as colour red is intrinsically linked to the idea of blood and the fact that blood is also strongly linked to the idea of death works well. also the inconsistent size variation of this text, the sharp aspects and the dripping blood style of the text that reads part 2 cause the over all look to appear as being mildly threatening.
old style
This image is a good example of the successful use of the rule of thirds by first attracting the eye towards the top half of this image a characteristic that only exists due to the brightness of the light from the helmet of which the figure at the top of this poster is wearing i believe that with out the strong contrast of this light the main focal point would be what is now the second focal point ,that being the word barn written in red bold writing at the base of this poster. i believe that the creator of this poster has fashioned the main focal point in the form of the monsters of this movie to stress to the audience the importance of these characters in this film showing that these monsters are the main focal point to this movie
the third area of focus is the image is the crowd of people having a campfire in front of a barn that is on fire.
the artists chosen colour seine presents its audience with mid night colours of black blue and grey like colours combined with reds ,purples ,oranges and yellows all colours that could be associated with fire i believe that the artist has done this to emphasising the campfire sen of this image as to strongly suggest to its viewer that the people around this campfire might be telling ghost stories.
jaws
This poster if effective due to its well executed use of the rule of thirds of which guides the human eye downwards along the page, first attracting the attention of its viewer to the large bold red title of which reads the word jaws. This is a good quality to re create due to the fact that buy doing this the viewer is getting the most important piece of information first without being distracted by the rest of the poster of which effectively doesn’t stand out as much as the title due to the majority of this image shearing one colour scheme of blue, white and black .
following the rule of thirds my eye is then drawn to the image of the swimming woman this is because of how close it is towards the title and even tho the names of the actors are some what closer to the title i believe that the woman is more prominent due to the way in which her arm is reaching out almost underlining the text and due to important information usually having a underlining to stress importance the woman and the word jaws almost become one image.
after the image of the woman has drawn my attention down the page my eyes then reads the text of which are again almost underlining the woman. following this instigated flow my eye then follows to observe the shark at the bottom of the poster a image that even tho is rather large and alarming is one that does not over power the smaller imagery as it is included in this blue white and black back ground colour scheme.
invisable man
From my perspective this poster is successful firstly due to its cartoon like styling as i believe that this quality has caused this piece to be more attention grabbing as it has allowed the artist to cause a more dramatic contrast using a simple colour scheme apposed to if it were created in this same way but while using realistic imagery as i suspect that this would cause its simple colour scheme and successful contrast glow like effect to be not as prominent i have also chosen this particular poster due to its well executed use of the rule of thirds of which first draws the attention of its viewer to the goggle covered eyes of the character in this image i believe that this is firstly because this section of a poster in the rule of thirds is well known to be the most commonly focused on aria of a poster or image , this is due to the fact that a person is firstly drawn to the eyes of the human face.i suspect that this fact influenced the artist of this piece to place the eye area of the face of this male in this specific section. but most importantly i believe that the reason that the artist has made the covered over eyes of this piece the main focal point due to this movie being biased on the fact that people can not “see” the man in this movie this interpretation is supported due to the ways in which this character is covered up thus only making the swaddling items of the exterior viable while the true character remains unseen . As well as this the artists use of the rule of thirds secondly draws its viewers attention to the very bold and rather large and slightly diagonal title of this poster that reads the invisible man in quotation marks. i believe that the effect of the quotation marks of this title has is that while its viewer is reading the title the verbalisation in which people read to them self in becomes magnified as it amplifies the voice of the mind. i will look to re crate this in my posters as i believe that this is a interesting and unique effect of a title. finally my eye is then caught by the smaller orange text at the very top of this poster i think that this text even tho is in the same styling of the title of this poster stands out less due to its size being significantly smaller.
TSA_2203384_2015-17-4--01-03-59
This poster is admirable firstly due to its well executed main focal point of which is firstly the word evil that is written in the largest font that is in yellow and orange of which slightly resembles a dry dusty mud like colour of a dirt path or road this resemblance explains the location in which the happenings of this film occur taking place in a fores. the second focal point of this poster are the main characters of this film tucker and dale of whom are presented to its audience wearing a very confused and shocked facial expression a characteristic that effectively suggesting  to the viewer that these two characters dominantly express these particular emotions all through out the film.
the final section of which the viewers attention is then guided to is the silhouettes of which are surrounded by the very light blue moon and the image of the teenage girl behind the two main characters of which effectively explain to its viewer the alternate personalities in which the teenagers in this film project on to the main characters tucker and dale just as the shadows are projected on to the moon. i will look to re create this symbolism.
blade_runner_poster_by_adamrabalais-d4av5bo.jpg
This poster is a grate example of the effects that white space can have on a image the white space of this image can be seen in the tessellated black and grey back ground of this image of which successfully frames the main focal point that is the bright orange centred eye of this image. i believe that the styling of this eye explains the text above this image well as the bright striking orange colour i feel best explains the concept of the word bold . however even tho this text may be closest to the main focal point it is not seen before the dark red title. This is because of how well the red in this title contrasts against the almost black section of the background that it is delayed in front of causing the text at the very top to be viewed last. further more i suspect that another reason for the artist of this poster having styled the eye in this piece in this striking fashion was to suggest to its audience that this film will spark your interest. I also admire the way in which the text at the top of this image is the same shad of light grey that surrounds and highlights the outer ring of the eye causing a glow like effect as this creates the idea that the text above ,may also be apart of this glow.
horror typeography.jpg
Here is a page full of typefaces that i find inspirational , i will look to re-create the pointed, sharp styling of these posters as i believe this quality to translate as being threatening. i also plan of re creating there monochromatic colour schemes as i feel that this feature allows the information to be prepossessed faster as the audience is not distracted by varied colour scheme.
z text development test
These are just some of the early type face development of which i have designed the first type face i created was the typography of which i had designed as to look like it had been bitten by zombies ,i think that the colour scheme of this typeface was successful but the over all look was much to detailed making it look to crowded and believed that this would take attention away from the other components in my final piece.  i then went on to creating the bright red text of which i have incorporated  imagery of hands protruding from the z, even though i thought this design to be imaginative and fitting with the plot of the film i believed this type face to be ineffective as visually it is to thin and is not bold enough for a poster,is to technique and did not resemble Saul Basses works well enough. The third typeface i made was the bright yellow and black light up text of which i had fashioned to resemble the text of a fair ground sign, from my perspective this text is eye catching as well reflects the fair ground setting of the end of this film and will look to incorporate this in future development but will attempt to simplify the over all design. the final text i created was the thin red pointed style title, i believed this text to be simple and almost threatening looking as to how pointed the ends of the characters were a characteristic i thought well reflected the constant threat of zombies they face along there journey however again this design was not bold enough and even though the styling loser resembled Saul Basses typeface was not close enough. in convolution i will look to simplify and make my future typography designs bolder and better resemble the works of Saul Bass.
saul bass hitch.jpg
I admire this typography crated by Saul bass this is because of the regularity in size and the surprising way it stands out and captures the viewers attention even tho this text is rather thin. i will look to re-create these traits in the titles of my film.
hitchj inspiers
I feel that i have successfully crated a type face that highly resembles the Hitchcock typeface above this piece designed by Saul bass, i have done this by re creating his irregular sizing and by slightly changing the face of each character, i have also re-created his basic colour scheme of red and black. in my opinion this type face is very eye catching and aesthetically pleasing and because of these reasons i intend to use this typeface in one of my final posters.
five objectys
In this image you will see five objects of which i believe all intrinsically link to my chosen film that being zombie land i have chosen a image of the car of which the characters take there gurney as i believe that this is important as the majority of the mid section of this film takes place either in this car  or in relevance to it , as well as this one of the most iconic seance  of this film happen through the use of this car as one of the main characters manages to decapitate a zombie with the car door of this vehicle. This page also includes an image of a advertising arrow as to translate to my audience the main plot of this film that being the two main characters being held hostage by two females and take a directed journey to a fair.  The third image seen is a picture of the very well known shoot a duck game of which is most commonly played at carnival or fairs and i have used this picture to explain the destination on this film to my audience. on this page i have used zombie silhouettes due to the fact that this film takes place in a zombie apocalypses. finally i have chosen this image of a fairest wheel because approaching a fair this is usually the ride that is visible first due to its size and successive lights
44576994_911523239044387_2357427636612890624_n
This is a photograph of my various designs for this project in the first design i have presented my audience with what will be a brightly light grand style title of which i hope will catch the attention of my audience , i have also integrated a design of a fairest wheel and some zombie silhouettes  of which will make reference towards both zombies and the shoot a duck game. this design will have a rectangular boarder and will have fair lights displayed in every corner. the second design in this image i have retracted the detail of the title now replacing it with a much simpler rounded rectangular style of typography ,i have also re-positioned the fairest wheel towards the right hand of this design of which  has many lines extending from the exterior as to explain the excessive lights of this ride of which are attracting the attention of the running zombie silhouettes at the very bottom of this design. this design will have a top border of which will look like a red curtain and will also display fair lights that extend across the top of the page  my third design shows another thin typeface and what will be a brightly light hand of which is directing the audience to the right hand side of this page of where a fairest wheel sits at the bottom right hand side of this poster design, this fairest wheel shows images of zombies reaching from the individual carriage  towards the stranded couple on this ride in  this design i have chosen to keep the fair light border. if you will acknowledge the fact that in this  forth idea i have presented my audience with a title that has zombie hands Incorporated in to is typeface a choice i have done to explain the zombie orientated challenges and obstacles the characters battle through out this film, i have also used a image of what will be a brightly light chain saw in this design to make reference towards the weaponry that is used to fight these obstacles. the various triangles that travel across the top of this poster i have added in hopes that they will be interpenetrated as festive flags that are rather commonly seen at fairs. The fifth design in this image has been designed inspired by Saul bass’s supernatural car poster and his blues brothers piece. This image shows a car with the cow boy hat and the blue collar displayed in the window of this vehicle of which has one open door that is supposed to look as tho it is threatening the well being of the two zombies placed directly in front of. the thin text of this potential poster design as also been designed inspired by the how to survival guide in this film. Finally the last design idea shows an image of a zombie bitten hand pointing to the right hand side of this piece while having a fairest whee extending from the thumb and the extended finger of this poster reads the title.
44668868_438807923315012_5001740186447511552_n.jpg
In the first design idea i have presented my audience with the very basic fetchers of a clown of which i have also caused to look zombie like by daring these fetchers spilling with what will be blood the title of this poster is suppose to resemble fair ground lights and all of this imagery will be placed in a blood like frame. The second poster design in this picture i have again presented my audience with the basic facial fetchers of a clown however i have not included the hair of the clown as i felt that the hair retracted attention away from the actual fetchers of the clowns face and felt that this absence translated the idea of a clown faster and in a simpler way, i have also designed the type face of this poster travailing downwards across the poster as i believe this design causes this poster to look original and attracts the attention of a audience better. in this third design i have framed the face of the clown with what will be a black or green border as to better frame these facial fetchers and i have again designed the title separately  appearing at the top and bottom of this poster to make the most of the space i have been given and the small circles that make up this text will resemble fair ground lights. The fourth image in this photo i have designed the car pf this film having the door open of which has blood dripping from it as to make reference towards a very iconic scene in this film i have also framed this design with a blood like frame and i have also designed the typeface of this design inspired by that how to guide that the main character makes reference to through out this film. This fifth idea tells of the main characters car about to travel in to a tunnel while having a zombie in the back window of the car and again i have designed the title of this poster from the how to guide in this film. the final image i have used the idea of the car again but this time i have only  used half of the car as i  was attempting to used less imagery while still efficiently translating a concept to my audience , i feel this has worked, i have also included a image o a decapitated zombie that lays in a pool of blood.
44676678_2023067991083496_3987113557870247936_n.jpg
All of the images in this piece have been designed inspired by one of the most common scenes in this movie that being the part when one of the main characters within this film kills a zombie that is beside the road by opening his car door. This first idea of which is in this photo i have designed the main characters car having the door open  of which is dripping with blood while driving along a road while also including a image of a decapitated zombie of which is lying in a pool of its own blood i have also designed the title of this poster inspired by the main characters  how to guide.  The second design in this image i have already designed ones before but in this design i have tried to refine up this idea and feel that by doing this causes this design to be more appealing and this may cause me to re create this design in illustrator. for this third idea in this photo i have designed the car that they take a road trip in, in this film  delaying a cow boy hat that the second main character wears and also the blue colour from the main characters shirt both of which these characters where through out the entire film. the final design in this image i have decided to draw the car at a different perspective while still including the image of a cow boy hat in the window. i believe that this has not proven to be as effective as i had hoped and do not believe that this design holds any potential.
44601968_254642958568028_2584746756507959296_n.jpg
I am very fond of this particular design as from my prescriptive it is very entreating and some what comical. i have presented my audience with a title of which is very simple a style choice i have done as to insure that the image of a zombie in the back of the main characters car becomes the main focal point of my poster.  in this poster design you will also see a faint text that reads rue 13 check the back seat that i intend to re-create resembling the typeface of the rules guide that the main character makes reference to through out the film.  It is this how to survive guide of which i have designed this poster as to make reference to this particular rule.i intend to keep the design of this poster as simple as possible as to re-create the art style of Saul bass. this poster will be one that i re-create in illustrator.
back of car and zombie
In this image you will see a grey and black car that has a zombie in the back window  of which is pressing its blood covered hands up against the window of the car in this design , I am not pleased with this particular outcome as i feel the components and the overall flow of this poster does not work as well as i would have hoped and due to this fact i will not be further developing this design.
44543174_243166999885412_3956757549360873472_n
I consider this design as being successful due to the strong reference i have made towards one of the most ionic happenings within this film that being the part where the second main character kills a zombie on the side of the road with his car door.  The title in this design has been drawn resembling the typeface used in the main characters how to guide, i plan to make the hash tag of this design very prominent. The truck of this film will resemble Saul basses car in his supernatural poster. The guide lines of this road will be crated in a very bright colour of which in theory will effectively contrast against the road and background.
zombie and car
This piece was very strongly designed inspired by the most iconic Sean of this film where the second main character kills a zombie on the road with his car door, i like this design as i believe that it explains this memorable scene well while using very simple imagery of which also well reflects Saul basses works and it is because of these reasons that i believe this design to be effective and will be developing this design further i will look to create a stronger contrast in colour and create more drama through excessive imagery of blood and detail.
zombie car rust and blood development.jpg
Here i have attempted to explain the most iconic scenes of this film through less imagery, i have done this by not including the picture of the hat of which the second main character of this film wears and also replacing  the picture of the zombies with a patch of blood that is dripping from the door. i feel that this is successful as the blood patch on the door well represents the death of the zombie. i prefer this design because even tho there is less imagery it still suggests that the door of this car has caused an injury .
HASH ZOMB
This typography has been created inspired by the type face of the how to survive a zombie apocalypses guide in this movie. and also the works of Saul bass. in my opinion the result of these two styles have been rather successful and this typography could potentially  be used  in a poster design. however if i were to use this typeface again i would have created it slightly wider in the hopes it would cause a bolder effect.
blood and rustt car final design
In my opinion this designs is the most successful piece to come out of the development for this particular idea as it is both simple and eye catching , uses limited imagery while still effectively explaining a scene from my chosen film as well as this i am very fond of the contrast that the orange has with the different Gray and red colours that make up the car in this design.
blood and rustt car final design FINISHED
This is an image of the final poster that all of this development had led up to, firstly i am pleased with the strong contrast in colour that i have crated in this poster using the colours black ,red ,orange, yellow and white. another reason i am content with this poster is due to the type face of  my typography of which i have crated in a rather wide and elongated style, i have done this as i believe that these styling choices compliment the portrait settings of this poster causing everything to look in better proportion, this also causes the title of this poster to become more eye catching as apposed to if the characters of this text were in a  more formal width and length
WITH HAT AND COLOUR
I like this design as i feel that i have well reflected the works of Saul bass doing so by designing this piece incorporating  both of his works firstly the simple but effective styling from the car in his supernatural poster and re-creating the idea of using individual items of clothing as to describe a charter from his blues brothers piece. i have done this by using the cowboy hat of which the second main character wears and the blue colour from the shirt that the main character wears in this poster.
car with blood outline zombie green white space.jpg
In my opinion this image is successful as it best reflects the styling of Saul bass as this design has no strong black outlines and has a very simple composition as well as this it also best describes the most iconic scenes  with in this film that being when the main character kills a zombie on the road with a car door.  i have outlined this design with this red plash like shape as to resemble blood while suggesting the violent content of this scene . even tho this design has positive visual aspects and descriptive qualities i will look to further develop this design and intend to re-create this design with more detail while using less imagery.
clown ands hair.jpg
I have chosen to re-create this design in illustrator as i feel that the composition of this poster design is appealing and the design is also very entreating i also plan on creating this poster with traditional clown colours such as red blues yellows and  orange.
DRIBBLEING CLOWN
I have also chosen this clown design as in my opinion it is one of the most visually appealing  and holds the most potential out of these two designs another reason i have chosen this design to re-create in illustrator is due to the fact in this design i have tried to use the very lets amount of imagery i possibly could while clearly translating the characteristics of a clown i have done this to replicate the minimalism that Saul bass uses in his designs.
Untitled-2
if you will acknowledged the diagonal way in which i have designed most of the characters , i have done as an attempt to complement the linear  design of this  typography , i feel that this has worked well causing a dramatically down scaling effect. i also believe this particular design would well complement a portrait styled poster.
Untitled-11
This is an image of my re-creation of the zombie clown of which the audience is presented with towards the end of this film. i feel that i have successfully translated the clown /zombie characteristics of  this clown through my clear dripping blood like shapes that i have incorporated in to the design of this face. i am happy with this initial design i also think that the way i have created the eyes of this zombie in this dull black way best translated the idea of this clown being dead.  intend to further develop this image .
Untitled-11
Here i have further developed my zombie clown design and i am happy with the colour scheme in which i have chosen showing blue, red, white, purple and pink. i have chosen these colours as i believe them to be present in a clowns makeup and costume. as well as this these colours contrast well with the red blood that is dripping from the mouth of this poster but not so much this allows the blood to integrate with the image of the clown better.
exported poster
my final poster will be inspired by the styling of this old fashioned carnival clown poster. i plan on doing as to best explain the destination in which they take in this film of which is a fair where one of the main characters run in to a zombie dressed up as a clown.
final clown zombie poster
In my opinion the positioning of the clown in this design is very ideal as this causes the design to act as the main focal point, i will look to re-create this in the further development of this poster. Another thing i will keep from this piece is the black border as i feel this best frames and exaggerates the clown in this picture, however will look to use more colours in this border and may thicken this aspect. however i do not think that the typeface of this poster is bold enough and does not merge well with the flow of this poster.
final clown zombie poster with spotted bak ground.jpg
I have designed this poster inspired by old fashioned carnival posters i believe that i have effectively done this by re-creating the border of these old posters and the glorification of the face of a clown while also incorporating a new aged twist by using a rather bold colour scheme and computer generated style. as well as this i have also attempted to mimic the styling of Saul bass of which i feel i have accomplished through my irregular and informal type face and simplistic imagery  that do not have black outlines, if you will acknowledged the ways in which i have used the rule of thirds that i first attract the attention of my audiences with the black eyes of the clown face of this poster as the main focal point, a characteristic of which i think exists through the strong contrast that the light purple and blue colour that surrounds the eyes of this poster has against the dull blackness of the clowns eyes. this then causes the viewer to examine the second focal point that being the rest of the clowns face this is because of the fact that the images of the clowns face are not connected  , once the viewer has done this i then call there attention towards my Saul bass inspired title of this poster that all the characters are presented in a informal and irregular fashion of which i have incorporated with the boarder of this poster.

FIVE ITEMS RESULT.jpg

44495384_180257202894632_772195275409195008_n
This is an image of a potential design of which may frame my title, in my opinion this design is successful as i believe it to be a creative way of fashioning the title of this poster as the main focal point. As well as this i believe that the typeface in this image well resembles the works of Saul bass as in my opinion it reflects his informal styling and irregularity. I plan on re-creating this design in illustrator and integrating it in to the further development of my posters.
HAND DESIGN STEPS
This piece explains the development of this directive hand, showing first the re-creation of my earlier pencil design of this hand. i was happy with this re-creation and decided  to further develop  this design a choice of which lead to the text that stretches across the protruding finger of  this hand of which reads the title of this poster, even tho i found this design adequate i still thought that it could improve so to do so i refined the characters of the title and introduced the idea of the fairest wheel of which i placed on the tip of the thumb i now believe this design to be eye catching and original so i will look to include this design in the  further development of my poster.

Untitled-6

zombie shoot a duck like targets.jpg
The zombies in this piece have been designed in this way to resemble the shoot a duck game of which is often played at carnivals or fairs these characteristics can be seen taking place in the targets of which i have placed upon the heads of these zombies best translating the well known fact that to kill a zombie you must shoot them in the head while also reflecting the objective of the original game. another resemblance i have created with this game is by insuring to use the yellow colour from the ducks in to the shadows of these zombies. if you will acknowledged the way in which i have intertwined both the shoot a duck game and the zombie silhouettes from my previous list of five things together a technique i feel has had a interesting outcome.
zombie land point in white could be the final one
I believe that i have successfully used the rule of thirds in this poster of which i first use to draw the viewers attention towards the middle section of this poster doing so by catching there eye with my well designed main focal point. which i have made in the form of a zombie bitten hand that displays the title of this film stretching across the finger of this design. In my opinion this is effective as by doing this i have managed to create the title of this film as the main focal point a fact that best expresses the importance of the title and helps add context towards the rest of the imagery in my poster. As well as this i have Incorporated this black rectangle of which can be seen behind the hand and across the middle section of this poster to add more definition and create strong contrast with the white of the hand and the red colours belonging to both the title and the wound of the hand. I then direct my audiences attention to the second half of my poster with the only image that differs  from what would have been a very dominantly red, black and yellow colour scheme by making this image using the colours blue , red, green ,yellow ,orange and purple. if you will acknowledged the red and black curtain like border within this poster of which i have placed yellow circles that have been designed as to resemble fare ground  lights.   The final section of this poster i have designed in the form of five zombie silhouettes that have been styled to resemble the shoot a duck carnival game. i think that i have successfully explains the title of this poster by making sure to heavily include the use of zombies.

finished zombie hand development # black back ground.jpg

Here i have slightly changed the style of this poster and have replaced the back  ground of this with a large square shape of black rather than the thin strip used in my earlier piece and if you will knowledge the change in colour of the fairest wheel that i have changed to white while also changing the entire colour of the hand to this zombie like green skin colour. I believe that these changes have caused the hand and the text to both act as the main focal point as apposed to my earlier poster as the title of this poster acts as the main foal point. As well as this in my opinion the new zombie colouring of the hand in this poster best describes the contents of this film.

old zombie land really simple

here i have tried a rather simplistic style as i felt that the various other posters of which i have designed were becoming over technical and as a result i have designed this poster using very limited imagery and colour however i feel that this image is to simple and rather vague and does not explain the contents of this movie as well as my other posters and feel this particular poster is better fitting for a book cover as apposed to a movie poster as this poster is not eye catching enough. due to this poster sharing the same imagery and not looking very appealing i will not develop this poster any further.

final poster
i have chosen this poster to be one of my final posters as in my opinion this is the most attention grabbing poster  this may be because of my dominant use of this striking red colour of which i have contrasted against the black colour  images in this poster. i think this poster is possess the most original composition compared to the various other posters that i have designed. As well as this i think that the way in which i have designed the facial expression of the clown in this poster sets a ominous mood a characteristic that is missing from the other posters.
blood and rustt car final design FINISHED.jpg
I have chosen this last poster as one of my final pieces as i feel that i have created a design that explains the contents of the movie very well this is because of the act that the image of the car has been designed to make reference to one of the most iconic scenes from this movie, and so would be well recognised without the title of this poster ,also  I feel that this poster is attention grabbing and original . Another reason that i believe this poster to be successful is due to the styling of my text of which i have designed in this wide and elongated way, i have done this because from my perspective the way i have elongating my text complements the portrait setting of this poster. As well as this i have also chosen to create this type face this thin as i feel that this particular trait  causes this typeface to resemble Saul bass’s typography , purposely resembling his Hitchcock typeface.  I am proud of my use of the rule of thirds of which i have used to fashion the car in this poster as the main focal point a fact that i have created by designing this car having many colours which contract well against each others those colours being grey ,orange ,yellow, red and white. My main focal point is located in the centre portion of this poster because i felt that this fact supported the idea of this image being the most important image and this positioning  caused the individual images of this poster to look in better proportion and the spacing between the title and the main focal point allows my viewer to analyse the details of both designs faster and clearer as opposed to if my main focal point were a lot closer to the title . i have designated my second focal point to the title of this image doing so by again first attracting my viewers attention with contrasting colours but i believe that the some what original form of this title is what is calling the attention of my viewer the most. The final image that i attract the attention of audience with is the orange road markings that sit underneath the car of this image representing a road.

Design report.

My research on typography in horror posters revealed that most artists try to design there typeface’s in such a way that the title of these posters reflect the contents of the film, I have also learned that while doing this artists can create a piece of text to appear to be almost threatening an effect that usually occurs when the artist of a design fashions there texts having very jagged fetchers , sharp edges or in most cases resembling blood. While doing this section of research I also got the impression that crating a text in the form of blood is now considered to be a rather outdated and some-what cliche design.

The majority of my first attempts of re-creating typefaces for horror films typography designs in my opinion were not successful this was due to the fact that I thought them to be to technical, so I decided to continue developing my work while trying to simplify my new designs. I then came across Saul bass’s Hitchcock typeface and admired the design of this type there for began to create my text under the influence of his typography. The final out-comes of this experimentation I thought were very good and so decided to incorporate it in to one off my final posters.  I believe that the development that I have shown on my blog show my style becoming less complex and involving less detail however continue to look more refined and bolder

The research that I undertook in finding very successful and well-known horror posters reviled the ways in which to use the rule of thirds and the various ways that one can crate a main focal point, of which explained that main focal points become effective through having bold contrasting colours and also through strategic positioning. I came across many examples of the ways that positioning can help create a main focal point all of which mainly placed there image within the most commonly focused on section of a poster that being the section where a pair of human eyes would appear if the poster was divided in to sections for a humans face this section can be found taking place at the very bottom line of the highest section in the rule of thirds. I also found that the posters with the most limited colour scheme seamed to be more effective than those with a wider range of colours I think that this was due to the fact that the more limited the colour scheme was the less attention was detracted away from the overall design allowing me to analyse the posters faster. While  studying these posters I also found that all these posters had used very iconic images that were intrinsically linked to there chosen posters an example of this can be seen in the use of a image of a shark in the jaw’s movie poster.

Having found this I chose four objects of which were very strongly linked with the film zombie land of which were images of the car they travel in ,the fairest wheel and the shoot a duck game from the fair ground that they reach, silhouettes of zombies as they fight them though out this film and finally a form of fair-ground advertisement that is interchangeable but originally I have chosen a brightly lit arrow sign.

I then went on to design my own poster designs of which I felt all had potential. However, I thought that only 6 of them could look somewhat professional after testing them out I found that the first design I re-created was the worst ,this is the design that shows a zombie in the back seat, of which did not prove to be as successful as I had planned as the positioning and colour scheme of this poster did not work there for I made sure that the second design would show good composition and colour scheme that being the design that displays imagery of a car with its door hitting a zombie in the head , I feel that my technique had greatly improved as in this design. I had managed to successfully integrate the imagery together. I then continued to improve while adding less imagery and adding more detail to individual images. The development of this particular design finally led to the creation of one of my final posters. The third design idea I had decided to re- create in illustrator was my zombie clown design in which I designed to resemble an old fashion clown carnival poster. Again showing  improvement by becoming more vibrant in colour and more detailed making the over all poster very eye catching and bold, I have designed this poster having its title travelling down the left hand side of the poster and displays a image of a zombie clown face of which I have designed to appear as if it is scowling at my audience a characteristic of which I believe instigates a emotional response, a fetcher of which is missing from my various other posters and because of these facts I have also chosen this poster as one of my final pieces.

I believe that my final posters meets the brief as I feel that I have successfully re-created the style of Saul bass through my limited but effective colour schemes and also though my irregular typeface I have also made sure to not include harsh black outlines. Another reason I believe that I have hit the criteria is due to the fact that I have used images that are intrinsically linked my chosen film and these images also well explain the contents of this film to viewers that have not yet seen this film. Further more I feel that I have expressed my knowledge of the pen tool through these images by incorporating a lot of hand drawn styled detail to these posters.

if i were to do this task over again i would now crate a bolder typeface for my titles as i feel that the clown posters type face is not very effective as the black colour of its characters merge in to the border of the poster to much i would also further simplify my imagery. i would have also researched some more posters of which were closer to the styling of Saul bass.

I believe the typeface of this poster to be effective due to the ways in which the colour scheme of this typeface shares the same colours with the main focal point of this poster that being the very large eye of which displays various different shades of oranges ,subtle yellows and browns all colour of which can be seen taking place in the title. as well as this these colours are also intrinsically linked to the subject of nature and this happens to be the main setting of which film taking place over. this colour scheme also standout well against the jet black back ground.

the-25-creepiest-movie-posters-ever-2
I believe that the typography of this title is successful firstly due to the way in which this typeface stands out capturing the attention of its viewer ,a characteristic that is impressive due to the fact that the bright blue colour of this text can be seen taking place over the majority of this poster. but effectively stands out due to the well excited use of the dark shades of blue and black of which outline and fame the limbs in this poster. allowing the title of this image to act as the main focal point. i also admire the extreme glow like framing of this title of which has again been crated in this electric blue colour  as i suspect the artist of doing as to explain the meaning pf the word plus of which is most commonly seen taking place on a heart monitor  appearing in an electric blue line of which dances across the screen, this resemblance can also be seen taking place in the imperfect subtle wave like styling of this typeface

MV5BMjEzOTkxNTcyM15BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwOTk0MjI3NA@@._V1_
I have chosen this poster as i feel that the typeface of this title is very entreating  a reason for this is firstly the original styling of this text of which presents its audience with a rounded green curved sleek look that has been given a glow like outline. These particular styling choices have caused the overall look of this text to appear as being almost bug like.As well as this the form of this typeface is rather long a characteristic of which complements the portrait composition of this poster . this is because of the way that this effectively takes up more space ,causing everything to look in better proportion. Another reason i believe that this typography  is successful is due to the way it explains the meaning of the title ,doing this by creating the title in this bug like fashion and green colour, all ideas of which are intrinsically linked to the concept of aliens.

9.friday_13th_movie_poster
This typeface is successful in my opinion firstly due to the way that the artist of this piece has well expressed to the audience the importance of the number 13 of which has been done by creating this number in a dark red colour ,as to resemble blood while keeping the rest of the text in white . well translating that this date is the main instigator of the horrifying happening in this film. this is due to well known superstition that says that this particular date is to be considered unholy or unlucky.

new-absinthe
I believe that this typeface is functional as firstly the black colour of this text is shared dominantly taking place in the clothing of the woman in this poster of whom is drinking the product advertised of which is absinth. As well as this the characters of this title have been placed within a large distance of each other a characteristic i suspect the artist of crating as to imply to the audience that this product should be thought of and consumed within brakes within your day or in a persona spear time. this text is also very formal and clear.
the-evil-dead-feature-poster
I have chosen this poster as i believe the typography to be very effective a opinion i have come to due to the clear similarities that this type face has with the main design of this poster of which shows a woman of who is presumably being dragged in to a grave while showing signs of struggle as she is desperately reaching her arm towards the sky while her other arm is stretching downwards preventing her from being pulled under ground the positioning of her arms can also be seen taking place in the over extension occurring in first the v in this title, stretching upwards while the extension in the A is reaching downwards a artistic choice i presume the artist has created to well explain to the viewer the fact that the characters in this film face grate struggle. Another reason i think that this title looks so successful may be because of the angle that the artist of this has placed set this angle
screaming skull
I believe that the typeface used in this poster is effective firstly because of the downward flow occurring in the design of the word screaming as this wave design in my opinion reflects the motion that the sound waves of a scream would create. Another reason that i think that this typography is successful is due to the striking yellow colour that contrasts very well against the red colours that occupies the back ground of this poster a fact that causes the title of this poster to act as the main focal point. I also like the white outline and the chunky style of the word skull and the way that this text is vastly different to the word screaming as this keeps the viewer interested through its individuality that catches the viewers attention with more enthusiasm.
